“B.B.K." Ribolla Gialla Venezia Giulia IGT 2022
Bright, lively yellow. On the nose pear, fresh citrus fruits, menthol and a hint of spices and herbs. Juicy, bright and surprisingly complex on the palate, the long contact with the skins gives this white a unique structure and complexity. A crisp and characterful wine, which convinces completely with its long and very lively finish. SUPERIORE.DE

“Fiore di Campo” Cuvée Bianco Friuli Isonzo DOC 2022
Fiore di Campo, based on Friulano, is no more and no less than the self-proclaimed "family wine" of the Lis Neris house, and that is entirely justified: pretty straw yellow with green-gold reflections. Enticing mineral and citrus nose with notes of peach, jasmine, almonds and liquorice. Firm, fresh and crisp on the palate of apricot and green apple, plus a lovely creamy texture. Its full body and gentle complexity marry in a final with considerable freshness and high drinkability. Perfect entry into the world of Lis Neris' terrific white wines. SUPERIORE.DE

Pinot Grigio Friuli Isonzo DOC 2023
Pinot Grigio has been at home in the Isonzo for 140 years now; with the necessary sensitivity, it develops a great deal of elegance and structure and can almost be called autochthonous here. It is not surprising that Alvaro Pecorari has taken this grape variety to his heart. A finesse-rich white with a floral bouquet and a fine peach note. On the palate, multi-layered and quite complex, the 8-month yeast storage gives it depth, length and a good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE

Chardonnay Friuli Isonzo DOC 2023
Successful, straightforward interpretation of the French grape variety, the signature of the Pecorari family is also clearly identifiable here. In a medium-bodied style, it convinces with a buoyant lightness and a refined, mineral taste of bananas and tropical fruits. Aromatic complexity also in the finish, yet it never loses its precision and personality. The 8-month yeast storage gives it depth, length and good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE

“Picol” Sauvignon Bianco Friuli Isonzo DOC 2021
Brilliant, rich yellow with silver-green reflections. The bouquet has pronounced smoky, mineral notes, full flavours of mango, citrus fruit, sage and asparagus. It shows its true class on the palate: wonderfully complex structure, lots of naturally sweet flavour, refreshing acidity and a juiciness, strength and length that can only be achieved through long contact with the lees and simultaneous agitation. Very convincing, downright captivating! SUPERIORE.DE
"Firm and quite deep, yeasty, very delicately nutty and smoky aroma with citrus flavours, some white berries, spring onions, broccoli, white pepper and crab meat. Ripe, juicy, dense fruit, very fine acidity and some grip, vegetal spice, blackcurrant leaves, some smoke and nutty-yeasty traces, blackcurrants and gooseberries in the background, mineral foundation, good depth, very good, firm, juicy, mineral and somewhat herbal-spicy finish with blackberry and floral nuances." Wein-Plus
"Intense straw yellow with a green tinge. Aromatic nose, lots of gooseberry and nettle, some passion fruit in the background. Straightforward and precise on the palate, animating, mouthwatering, delicately melting, lingering, salty final." Falstaff
"On the nose, cooked lemons, savoury herbs, pepper and a hint of flinty minerality. Medium-bodied, juicy and citrusy with lively acidity and a flavourful finish." James Suckling
"The Sauvignon Blanc Picol 2021 is flavoursome and incredibly fresh. In the glass, it unfolds aromas of nectarine, rosemary and sage, accompanied by candied lime. It is full of zesty tension with sharp yellow citrus fruits and salty mineral notes that tantalise the senses. Its brilliant acidity is the real highlight of the show, as the Picol finishes long and powerful with a mix of sour melon and young kiwi that makes the taster return to the glass." Vinous
"Inviting, smoky nose of gooseberry aromatics; palate of tropical notes and a neat, bright acidity." Decanter

“La Vila” Friulano Friuli Isonzo DOC 2021
Brilliant golden yellow colour. The nose opens with yellow fruit, summer-ripened peach, pear and honeydew melon, as well as hints of mineral tones, ash and crushed flint. On the palate, Golden Delicious, pear and a certain creaminess, which in turn is flanked by salty notes. The acidity is very well integrated, all in all a wonderful white wine with impressive depth and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"It is fresh with notes of nectarine, pear drops, acacia and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, chalky and mineral with white flowers and mineral undertones. Piquant on the finish." James Suckling

“Dom Jurosa” Metodo Classico Blanc de Blancs 2018 brut
The Chardonnay grapes for Lis Neris' Metodo Classico come from the historic Jurosa vineyard. After the first fermentation in 500-litre barrels, it matures for at least three years in the bottle on the fine lees and develops the nobility and elegance that immediately excited us. On the nose, notes of yeast, light stone fruit, limestone and minerals. In the mouth it is creamy and elegant, blessed with depth and at the same time great freshness, which one would wish for from many a French counterpart. Dom Jurosa is precise, cool and pleasantly dry in its overall appearance, which also makes it an excellent food companion. SUPERIORE.DE

“Lis” Bianco Friuli Isonzo DOC 2018
Lis is a mixed blend of Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc and is one of the house's top wines. It has a wonderfully complex aroma of citrus and passion fruit, yellow apple and an initially barely perceptible flavour lead from the Sauvignon Bianco. All elements of this cuvée are equally and masterfully married on the palate, the mouthfeel is soft and round. This complex and at the same time elegant white wine, with its subtle pressure, whets the appetite for more and inevitably casts a spell over every Friuli fan. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light golden yellow with straw-yellow reflections. Slightly reductive nose at first, then ripe stone fruit, flint, citrus fruit and fresh herbs in the background. Pleasant and lively acidity on the palate, salty, with a long finish." Falstaff
"Honeysuckle, guava, papaya and lime curd on the nose. Some dried spice, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with a creamy, oily texture. Ripe, tropical style. Finishes fresh." James Suckling
"The 2018 Lis is coy in the glass, with a nuanced bouquet that shows young peach, dusty florals and white smoke. This is pure elegance on the palate, pleasantly soothing and soft, with ripe white pit fruits and hints of sweet spice that smooth over the palate. It finishes with a tug of tannin and a concentration of residual fruits, as hazelnut traces embellish the style." Vinous

“Confini” Bianco Friuli Isonzo DOC 2019
Confini can justifiably be described as one of Friuli's best white wines. This crescendo is an exciting blend of Gewürztraminer, Pinot Grigio and Riesling, with the strong flavours of Traminer clearly leading the way. Medium-bodied on the palate, with a creamy fullness and silky intensity, with hints of tropical fruit, gingerbread and exotic flowers. In the final third, the palate is then again wide-ranging, full of freshness, juicy acidity and grace - and with the lasting, deep impression that more than does justice to a top wine from this appellation. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright golden yellow colour. Intense, aromatic nose, lots of fruit exoticism, mango and papaya, followed by rose petals and white pepper. Powerful on the palate, with phenolic grip, mouthwatering, animating, harmonious acidity structure, long, spicy final." Falstaff
"The 2019 Confini is uncannily fresh, emerging from the glass with an array of sweet herbs and wet stones that give way to a vibrant lime pudding. It is soft and round with an almost oily texture and a cascade of liquid flowers under a hint of incense and exotic spices. Zesty acidity resonates on the finish, while the 2019 finishes longer and is more savoury than expected. A salty note slowly fades. The Confini 2019 is a wine of constant contrasts. It is a blend of Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer and Riesling." Vinous
"Very aromatic with ripe pineapple, lychees and glazed lemons with dried flowers and spicy herb undertones. Medium- to full-bodied, tense and energetic with steady acidity and a firm, lightly phenolic mid-palate. Hints of dried leaves and citrus peel at the end." James Suckling

“Fiore di Campo Gold” Cuvée Bianco Friuli Isonzo DOC 2019
"Bright straw yellow with green reflections. Compact on the nose, lots of fruit, blackcurrant, lemon and bergamot, with plenty of herbal spice behind it. Straightforward and precise on the palate, great grip, mouthwatering, salty, delicately melting, refreshing acidity, long, mineral final." Falstaff
"The 2019 Fiore di Campo (Gold Label) is remarkably pretty in the glass. It is delicate and floral, with crushed stones and lime zest complemented by ginger spices. On the palate, it is round and pleasantly sweet. Ripe fruit is surrounded by a bright acidity, while a hint of mint unfolds towards the end. Candied citrus and a salty note contrast on the final, while the 2019 retains fantastic energy but is also lightly structured. The balance is stunning, and while it is still enjoyable today, it has a bright future ahead of it." Vinous
"The wine has a soft texture that only Italian white wines from Friuli have. The special thing about the texture is that it feels creepingly full-bodied, but never heavy. In addition to the flavours of stone fruit and pastries, the wine has a lovely acidic freshness and salty mineral notes." Wine Advocate

Alvaro Pecorari, the owner of the winery, dedicated a large part of his time to researching his vineyards and their suitability for the variety. The fact that his winery Lis Neris is today more than ever considered an important protagonist of the Friulian wine scene proves that he succeeded in this in an impressive way.
Alvaro belongs to a generation of wine producers who, unsatisfied with the region's unexpressive wines, longed for more complexity, structure and personality in the 1980s. At that time he took over the family farm in the municipality of San Lorenzo Isontino and began to dedicate himself to the task of putting the unused high potential of the terroir and the vineyards into a new light.
The vineyards of Lis Neris extend from the picturesque valleys of the Slovenian border to the right bank of the Isonzo River. The small Isonzo wine region offers the vines very special conditions: The dry wind Bora and mild sea temperatures contribute to the optimal health and ripening of the grapes. The soil structure varies considerably from zone to zone and has a complex geological history. Between alluvial deposits and calcareous gravel, the agronomic measures must be adapted in a sensitive and small-scale way depending on the vineyard and require a great deal of experience and sensitivity.
After he had full responsibility for the winery and also all the freedom he could get, Alvaro turned the business around and put the exact analysis of the existing sites and grape varieties at the centre of his actions. In an interview he explains: "Ultimately, it is a matter of understanding on which soil and in which micro-situation each individual variety promises the best results, because the diversity of very different vineyard sites requires a variety of grape varieties". Today, his wines bear witness not only to his oenological expertise, but also to his intimate connection with nature. The results, which are very limited in quantity each year, form the basis for a beautiful collection in which each wine reflects its origin in the most authentic way.
Alvaro Pecorari has divided his range into three segments: For the single-variety wines, the focus is on the typicality of the grape variety. The aromatic profile of international varieties, such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, as well as the autochthonous Friulano, are given the perfect stage in these wines.
These clearly contoured, primary fruity and refreshing wines honestly embody the traditional and purist style for which the region was once famous.
Lis Neri's vineyards with older vines are destined for the production of more complex and deeper wines. Thanks to Alvaro's many years of study, the Single Vineyard line is created in selected individual sites and with the most suitable grape varieties. The varietal pure and above average storable wines such as Gris, La Vila or Picol impress with their aromatic complexity, minerality, elegance and structure.
With the third line, Alvaro is pursuing an approach that is still quite innovative for the region. For the wines Confino or Lis he blends the grape varieties of his best sites and brings impressive wines into the bottle, which embody the unique terroir and compositional talent of the winemaker in a very individual way.
So if we are able to enjoy better and better wines from Friuli every year, we owe it to winemakers like Alvaro Pecorari. People who, full of meticulousness and a feeling for nature, do their utmost every day to ensure that our joy and enthusiasm for hand-made, terroir-typical wines will never end. SUPERIORE.DE
