Chardonnay Venezia Giulia IGT 2023
Light yellow in colour, fine nutty and buttery notes on the nose with juicy fruit such as mango and apple. Fresh and elegantly textured on the palate. A harmonious, versatile Chardonnay with a clean, yellow apple finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"A sparkling, tangy Chardonnay that tastes a little more like Pinot Blanc than Chardonnay. It's fresh, apple-flavoured, bright with green pears and spring blossom and sweet with satsuma acidity. Like a crisp white envelope, neatly pressed, containing a bright yellow card with sunshine and flowers." Jancis Robinson
"An attractive chardonnay with sliced cooked apples, lemon rind and peach stones. Medium-bodied with lovely density and freshness and a bright, tangy finish. Fresh, clean and direct." James Suckling

Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso Venezia Giulia IGT 2021
Emilio Rotolo's Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso draws you into the glass with its deep, peppery black raspberry flavours, complemented by pretty violet and lavender tones. Wrapping the palate in a cloak of dark, ripe, textured fruit, it is incredibly elegant and polished, but also tangy. A layer of sweet tannins frames the expression and caresses the cheeks, while citrus fruit and a hint of spice linger. This is a very nice wine that will benefit from a slight chill. SUPERIORE.DE
"Spiced tobacco leaves and dried black cherry aromas lift from the glass of this spicy red. Inviting on the palate with smokiness that adds character to the black plum and cassis flavors to craft rich and intriguing wines with fine tannins on the finish." Wine Enthusiast

Ribolla Gialla “Delle Mura - Zuc di Volpe” Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2021
The wonderfully typical, very lively Ribolla Gialla has a bouquet of fresh citrus fruits and apples, with peach notes and flint in the background. The fruity taste is round, clean and very harmonious with a long, salty finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Ribolla Gialla Zuc di Volpe 2021 is delicate and unobtrusive. It smells of lime and green melon, underlined by sweet floral scents. The style is soft and mineral, with an echo of saline acidity that slowly dissipates to reveal crisp Granny Smith apple. The 2021 finishes clean but full of youthful tension and a crisp feel as nuances of sour citrus gradually fade. What a beauty. Two to three years of ageing should help it to develop fully." Vinous
"Lots of flint and smoke with aromas and flavours of green apple and lime. Tangy and bright. A linear and energetic Ribolla with a sorbet finish." James Suckling

Pinot Grigio “Zuc di Volpe” Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2021
The Pinot Grigio Zuc di Volpe impresses with seductive aromas of ripe pears and apricots, accompanied by sweet white flowers and a hint of buttercream. It is silky and round, with a certain heaviness, yet perfectly balanced. Then on the palate, notes of ripe melon underlined by zesty lime and a salty note towards the spicy, smoky final. For all its complexity, very bright and fresh and full of personality. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intensely perfumed and rich in the glass, the 2021 Pinot Grigio Zuc di Volpe wafts up with notes of dried peaches and apricots complemented by a whiff of chamomile. It’s silky, nearly oily in texture, with tart green apple fruits and zesty lime tones complicated by a salty core of minerality. The 2021 lingers incredibly long and savory yet fresh with rosemary and liquid stone nuances. This characterful Pinot Grigio communicates importance and refinement from the first tilt of the glass. Fans of the variety should seek it out." Vinous
"A terrific and serious pinot grigio with lime, apple-pie and lemon-zest character throughout. Full-bodied and driven, with so much fruit flavor and intensity in the finish." James Suckling

Complex and rich bouquet of citrus fruit and sage flavours. Excellently structured and consistent on the palate with a fresh acid wire. This wonderful Sauvignon offers multi-layered fruit notes and great harmony with a delightful grapefruit flavour on the long finish. Good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2022 Sauvignon Zuc di Volpe blossoms slowly in the glass with a lovely blend of nectarine and wildflowers complicated by tangerine zest. This opens with a pretty inner sweetness as tart orchard fruits and ginger hints sweep across the palate. Residual acidity maintains a gorgeous balance as the 2022 finishes spicy and wickedly fresh, leaving the mouth watering for more. The combination of energy, vividly ripe fruit and power is stunning and promises many years of positive evolution." Vinous
"A very pure and chalky Sauvignon blanc, tangy but not herbaceous. Mineral, green apples and very gastronomic style. Ripe green apples, wet stones and nice and dry. Strict, but not demanding. Straightforward, quite long and mineral." James Suckling

One day, according to old documents, the Volpe and Pasini families - Friulian farmers on the one hand, Venetian merchants on the other - joined forces and founded the Volpe Pasini winery shortly before the end of the 16th century. Today, the winery is one of the most important traditional wineries in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
It is led by the former radiologist Emilio Rotolo with tireless dedication, a high level of competence and a large portion of entrepreneurial spirit. The native Calabrian is supported in his work by his equally enthusiastic son Alessandro. The entry of the wine enthusiasts quickly meant a huge leap upwards in quality for the house, which is located in the northern central part of the Colli Orientali del Friuli near Cividale and has optimal sites. The high rank was able to be expanded in an exemplary manner, not least thanks to the first-class advice of the renowned oenologist and agronomist Lorenzo Landi and a top-class staff that has been built up over time.
Emilio Rotolo is known in the wine world for his exceptional organisational skills and his success in achieving ambitious goals. Thus, the winemaker has quickly expanded Volpe Pasini by acquiring new vineyards. The wines produced in the meticulously kept cellar and half of which are sold abroad from the Togliano and Prepotto hills - around 60 percent are white, 40 percent red - vie for the top position every year. Among the white wines radiating personality and elegance, the Sauvignon and the Pinot Bianco of the Zuc di Volpe line always play the leading role in the wide range. The red wines of the Friulian winery convince wine connoisseurs with their good structure and are an impeccable reflection of their region of origin. "The wine must be a product of the terroir, an expression of culture, tradition and history," Emilio says of his wines, which are generally characterised by a moderate alcohol content.
In the winery, which is surrounded by an old city wall, the fresco of a sundial can be seen above the terrace on the first floor. "Its sun is the trademark of Volpe Pasini", the trade magazine Vinum once wrote. With Villa Rosa, the feudal estate also includes a magnificent mansion from the late 16th century that has been lovingly renovated. The landowner christened the villa in honour of his wife Rosa Tommaselli, who looks after the foreign business together with him. The way there leads through an enchanting park with gnarled oaks and evergreen magnolias in bloom. SUPERIORE.DE
