“Vigna Valmaggiore” Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC 2021
Intense ruby red with garnet shimmer. Fragrant, very delicate bouquet with pleasant fruity hints of cherries, wild berries and spices - plus a delicate hint of liquorice. The full and harmonious taste, just right in tannin content, is lasting and flattering and makes this Nebbiolo a "little Barolo" and unique wine. SUPERIORE.DE

Barolo Brunate DOCG 2016
Barolo Brunate, a noble cru from La Morra, shows the characteristic power and definition of its terroir. The dark fruit is enveloped in chocolate and exotic spices. On the palate, firm tannins and fine oak nuances together with the taut acid wire give length and longevity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aroma of raspberries and crystallised fruit. Ripe and rich on the palate with fine and full tannins; great ageing potential." Decanter
"The Beni di Batasiolo 2016 Barolo Brunate offers hints of ripe fruit with an open or immediately inviting approach. There is dark currant and cassis, followed by spice, earthy tones and a whisper of black truffle. In addition to this full-bodied bouquet, this wine offers solid fruit richness and concentration. The finish is long and carried by silky tannins." Wine Advocate
"Nutty, dried-vegetable to tobacco and tarry aroma of red and a little black berries with mushroomy nuances and some pepper. Ripe, firm, tart, juicy, clear fruit, slightly ethereal notes, taut, ripe tannins, dense and persistent on the palate, fine herbaceous to tobacco flavours, a little peppery in the background, chalky minerality, persistent, firm, good depth, still young, has a certain freshness, a hint of cocoa in the background, multi-layered, very good to long, firm, juicy and finely spicy finish, salty minerality, again with ethereal nuances." Wein-Plus
"Complex and decadent with ripe strawberries, smoke and lavender. Some undertones of burnt orange. Full-bodied, firm and chewy with lots of tannins. Needs time to soften and open up, has potential." James Suckling

Barolo “Le Coste di Monforte” DOCG 2018
Of the three Baroli from Pecchenino, Le Coste di Monforte shows the most focus and sharpness. The other two wines are much softer in their aromatic focus compared to this wine. Le Coste di Monforte offers dark fruits, balsamic herbs, spices, campfire ash and ferruginous earth in beautifully balanced proportions. This wine has a long maceration period of 60 days (at 28 degrees Celsius), which is followed by 36 months of ageing in oak barrels. This gives the wine its rich flavour profile. The fruit comes from a site of just under one hectare at an altitude of 450 metres. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte shows some sweet oak and baking spices on the first nose. Given more time in the glass, the wine reveals dark fruits, plum, autumn leaves and forest floor. The oak tones are strong in this medium-bodied Nebbiolo and need more time to settle into the wine's lean texture, if they ever fully emerge at all." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte is an exotic, beguiling wine. Melted road tar, incense, scorched earth, game, tobacco and cured meat contribute to an impression of brooding gravitas. But here, too, the flavours are advanced. Powerful Monforte tannins frame the imposing finish. Still, I wouldn't push my luck with ageing." Vinous
"Expressive, featuring rose, cherry, strawberry and sun-kissed hay aromas and flavors matched to an elegant frame. Light-bodied yet charming, harmonious and persistent on the chalky finish." Wine Spectator
"The nose reveals a wild, fruity character with a sharp, truffle and earthy note. With air, a hint of chocolate emerges. Medium to full body with dense flavours of ripe berries and medium-grained tannins covered in fruit and minerals. It all seems a bit raw at the moment, but it has plenty of character and length. It's fun to try, but give it a few years to develop." James Suckling

Barbaresco Bric Turot DOCG 2021
Bric Turot is a top Barbaresco vineyard. The sensationally fruity Nebbiolo comes from this five-hectare vineyard and seduces with its wonderful blackberry and cherry flavours. The flavour structure is elegant and powerful, with a very long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with an orange rim. Very fruity nose of red currants, raspberries and sour cherries, finely underlaid with black tea flavours and some undergrowth, accompanied by a light smoky note. Very elegant on the palate on entry, balanced and harmonious, accompanied by delicate fruit and finely structured tannins, ending on fruit in the long final." Falstaff
"Light ruby red colour. Concentrated raspberry fruit, slightly muted and with a hint of oak. Sweet, concentrated red fruit with grainy tannins. Lots of concentrated fruit, underpinned by grainy tannins. Should age well." Jancis Robinson
"The 2021 Barbaresco Bric Turot offers all the classicism of Treiso in its deep, spicy personality and textural feel. Dark red fruits, cloves, leather, orange peel and saddle leather lend the 2021 beautiful exotic elements that contribute to its beguiling personality. Clean mineral notes extend the finish." Vinous
"The Prunotto 2021 Barbaresco Bric Turot shows an expressive savory side that to my tastes translates as more roots than flowers. Dark fruit is followed by tilled earth, petrichor and toasted almond husk." Wine Advocate
"Walnuts, cherry stones, strawberries and tobacco on the nose. It is full-bodied and well-framed, with fine, slightly chalky tannins. Lots of finesse and length." James Suckling

Barbera d’Alba DOC 2019
The grapes for this exceptional Barbera come from the single vineyard Pira in Castiglione Falletto - where the best Barbaresco and Barolo in the region usually come from. Roagna's Barbera d'Alba is a deep, serious wine with an exuberant bouquet of ripe red fruit, flowers, spices and crushed gravel. The palate is clear and precise with flavours of redcurrants and cherries, underpinned by the typical Barbera acidity and medium-weight tannins. In its overall composition, it is one of the most fascinating, elegant and at the same time most classic representatives of its kind and demands all the attention and leisure of the taster - the reward follows on the foot. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2019 Barbera d'Alba is a wine of exquisite finesse. Deep and pliant yet not at all heavy, it exudes balance. Crushed flowers, mint, blood orange, raspberry and sweet spice all meld together. Although 2019 does not have the power of some previous years, it more than makes up for that with its polished, utterly sensual personality." Vinous

Rosso Langhe DOC 2019
Beautiful Langhe Nebbiolo from Roagna's top Barbaresco vineyards Pajé and Pira, which gives a good impression of the winery's remarkable style. Although from vines that are only around 25 years old, it is a striking wine, very old Piedmontese school - with crisp flavours of cherry, tobacco and leather, firm tannins and powerful acidity - and an inspiring round finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Delicate rust-red colour with orange accents. Chalky, clear and precise on the nose. Wild berries, forest floor and pine needles reveal dark, ethereal attributes. Then black pepper, cinnamon and juniper. Plum and a little sloe add dark fruit flavours. On the palate, the fine-grained but present tannins are surprising at first. The acidity kicks in immediately and puts a lot of pressure on the palate, accompanied by a slight spiciness. It is linear, cool and taut with a lot of drinking flow. The fruit appears much lighter than initially expected. The spiciness comes out again and again, with forest mushrooms and truffles subtly coming to the fore in the finish. Nebbiolo is the Pinot Noir of Italy and this can be recognised very well here." Marian Henß (Sommelier)
"The 2019 Langhe Rosso is fabulous. It captures all the pedigree of this great vintage, but in a slightly more open style (especially in its aromatics) that makes it quite approachable. Crushed flowers, dried cherries, spice, mint and sweet pipe tobacco are all beautifully highlighted. The 2019 is already quite approachable and can be drunk immediately. It is Piras Nebbiolo from young vines. Around two thirds of the fruit comes from Pira, the rest from Albesani, Gallina and Paje." Vinous
"The 2019 vintage shows good concentration, balanced acidity and a firm backbone. There's a lot of fresh fruit here with pressed flowers and roses." Wine Advocate

Barolo “Tortoniano” DOCG 2019
Tortoniano Barolo is a blend of Nebbiolo, 50% of which comes from the Cerequio vineyard, the other half from other plots, including some plantings in the Novello commune. It combines the complexity and nuances of the Nebbiolo grape with a fruit-driven and engaging personality. The aromatic bouquet shows hints of sweetness and richness with a potpourri of blackberries, summer cherries and spices. On the palate it is powerful and immediate, the tannins are clear and tangible. Will continue to develop towards perfection, elegance and finesse over the next few years. SUPERIORE.DE

Barbaresco Bordini DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Dark fruits on the nose, nuanced with spices, tar, liquorice and wild berries. The mouthfeel is soft and supple with a persistent and silky texture. Here is a Nebbiolo that exudes character and personality. Barbaresco Vigneto Bordini is a precise interpretation of the grape that draws a fine line between elegance and power with ease. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Barbaresco Vigneto Bordini 2021 is a very beautiful, open wine. Crushed flowers, red cherry/plum, leather, spice, menthol and blood orange are to the fore. Bordini's wines tend to be a bit more tannic, but the 2021 here is quite approachable. Floral and spicy nuances lift the finish." Vinous
"The La Spinetta 2021 Barbaresco Bordini, with organic fruit from the village of Neive, offers a voluptuous interpretation of Nebbiolo with fragrant tones of rose, blue flowers and sweet cherry on the close. The wine delivers more heft and fruit weight overall with pretty notes of crushed aspirin on the finish. It also tastes a bit stemmy with rosemary and dried herb. " Wine Advocate
"Lots of petals, dried strawberries, cedar and milk chocolate on the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied with tannins that build on the palate and are long and persistent. It softens at the end as it grows on the palate." James Suckling

“L’Insieme” VdT s.a. (2021)
"L'Insieme" is a small but concrete project of eco-solidarity. Just seven winegrowers from the Langhe have come together to support concrete solidarity projects every year with a part of the yield. The members include Elio Altare, Gianfranco Alessandria, Giuliano Corino, Federico Grasso, Giulio e Paolo Morando, Lorenzo Revello and Mauro Veglio. Under the label of the same name (L'Insieme: together, together, together), the wine producers support solidarity projects all over the world with 5.16 euros per bottled wine.
In the past years, L'Insieme donated over half a million euros to forty-two different projects. Today they donate about 60,000 euros a year. Whether it is building a childcare facility for single mothers in Alba, funding the development of schools in Kenya or improving hiking trails along the Tanaro River, the goal is to support national and international communities.
The deep dark L'Insieme combines the typical grapes of the Langa (Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto) with the racy spiciness of the Cabernet. A wine with a firm, powerful structure, harmoniously rounded tannins, a delicate melt and a beautiful finish. SUPERIORE.DE

“Brunet” Barbera d’Alba Superiore DOC 2021 · MAGNUM in OWC
Only in the best years, the grapes from the one-hectare Barbera vineyard "Brunet", planted by Matteo's grandfather in the 1960s, are turned into their own Barbera d'Alba Superiore, and this is bottled in a few hundred magnum bottles after 2 years of ageing in large wood, and only released in small quantities on request. The 2018 edition is more restrained and elegant than the classic Barbera Superiore of the house. A brightness and freshness shines from the glass, which, together with the bouquet of wild cherry and blackberry, reveals a terrific independence and finesse. Then, in the drink, a depth and length flanked by well-proportioned acidity and mild tannins, which make the wine a great companion for juicy steaks or braised game dishes as it matures in the bottle. This is a Barbera Cru in a class of its own! SUPERIORE.DE

“Capisme-e” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2022 · MAGNUM
The grapes come exclusively from the single vineyard San Pietro; since the 2018 vintage, part of the wine has been matured in amphorae. Berries, liquorice and deep red fruit on the nose. Finely woven and very precise structure, personality and class on the palate. Sheer elegance and Clerico enjoyment without waiting for further ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, shiny ruby red colour, sparkling. Beautiful expression on the nose, of geraniums, cold smoke and raspberries, with a finish of crisp, red-cheeked apple. Juicy and savoury on the palate, with a radiant fruit core, shows muscular tannins throughout, firm pressure on the finish, can still mature for a long time." Falstaff
"A pretty red, reminiscent of strawberry, cherry, floral and aniseed flavours. It is light and taut on the finish, but above all it is elegant and supple." Wine Spectator
"This is a fun and easy-going wine with beautiful primary fruit reminiscent of wild berries and cassis. The Domenico Clerico 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Capisme-e is characterised by its brightness and freshness, which are easy to drink. It's all about transparency and energy." Wine Advocate

Barolo Ravera DOCG 2018
G.D. Vajra's Ravera (whose site straddles the municipalities of Novello and Barolo) is always the most angular, powerful and vertical of their collection. It comes from soils with clay and sandstone at 320 to 340 metres above sea level. This is the ideal place for wines that show both power and elegance. The tannins are sweet, but every fibre of the backbone is dense and firm. Red and purple fruits with liquorice, tar and white truffle are neatly packed here, revealing themselves only gradually but then with beautiful precision and straightforwardness. The final has a wonderfully long reverberation, great! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, radiant ruby red with a lightening rim. Expressive on the nose, of wild berries, elderberries, also floral, then eucalyptus, plus noble spice, of black tea on the final. On the palate compact, juicy, with dense tannin, comes in several layers, energetic, salty in the final." Falstaff
"Lustrous mid ruby. Subtle, fragrant and concentrated and with fantastic depth and earthy minerally notes. Cherry and raspberry fruit with a hint of damson. Richly tannic adding chew to the juicy elegant fruit. On the finish, quite a bit of tannins that still need to integrate into the very long fruit finish. Compact and pithy." Jancis Robinson
"High-toned vanilla notes tie in with blue fruit purity. Rich and weighty with layers of fresh strawberries, raspberries, dried tobaccos, leather and earthy notes on the palate." Decanter
"This focused, fragrant red offers aromas of woodland berry, new leather, wild herb and pipe tobacco. The linear palate exhibits dried cherry, mocha and toasted nut set against close-grained tannins that leave a drying finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Rich, ripe mixed berries and perfumed bark on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with some lightly firm tannin giving support to the fruit. Has a promising core. Give it a while to broaden out." James Suckling
"The 2018 Barolo Ravera is a powerful, tightly wound wine. Gravel, smoke, cured meats, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol emerge, but only with quite a bit of reticence. This deceptively mid-weight Barolo has a good bit of brawn." Vinous
"Seamlessly stitched together, the G.D. Vajra 2018 Barolo Ravera reveals tight layering and smooth texture. Fruit comes from an amphitheater of vines with Tortoniana epoch sandstone clay that is typical of parts of Barolo and Novello. What stands out here is the mineral character of the wine. It frames a dark core of plum, dark cherry and soft spice." Wine Advocate

Barbaresco “Tulin” DOCG 2019
The Barbaresco Tulin is a convincing middle ground in Giorgio Pelissero's range. It has the richness normally found in his wines, but also a good dose of freshness. Floral and spicy nuances interweave with a core of red and purple berry fruit, giving it a striking inner flavour and energy. Tulin is an impressive wine that is characterised by its balance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of cherry and plum pie with sweet baking spices fill the glass as balsam, cedar and sandalwood emerge with more air. Rounded on the palate with juicy mixed berry preserves combined with licorice and turned earth finishing with fine tannins and a long roasted coffee bean note." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2019 Barbaresco Tulin is a dense, powerful wine that shows an abundance of dark red fruit, spice, mocha and blood orange. It has good depth, but the 2019 feels like it is still emerging. Present tannins give the Tulin a rather darker impression." Vinous
"An expressive Barbaresco with aromas and flavours of cherries, raspberries, flowers, liquorice and menthol. Rich and harmonious, with well-integrated tannins that support the entire wine. Balanced and with a long finish." Wine Spectator

Barolo Coste di Rose DOCG 2018
The latest addition to Vajra's Barolo line-up comes from a 1.5 hectare parcel in Coste di Rose, a small MGA (Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive) in the Barolo region. This is a steep slope at 310 metres above sea level with a high proportion of sandy soils with good drainage, whose vines and soils are cultivated in a natural way. This very accessible Barolo presents itself straightforward, forward and impresses even at a young age with its refreshing frankness. A very precise bouquet of cherry, plum, liquorice, spices and menthol. On the palate, a wide and multi-layered arc of fruit with lots of juice and power, supporting tannins and a full, long and mineral-minty finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, luminous ruby red. Rich nose with floral notes of violets, roses and a slight hint of blood orange. The palate is juicy, light, with well-integrated tannins and a pleasant aftertaste. Nice acidity, fresh and mineral finish." Falstaff
"Very clean red-berry fruit on the nose, together with citrus and cedar notes. Medium body with fine-grained tannins and a tight bead of fruit at the end." James Suckling
"The 2018 Barolo Coste di Rose is a delicate, understated Barolo that will need a bit of time to fully emerge. There's lovely purity to the fruit here, but also some angular contours that need to resolve. The 2018 is a mid-weight wine in the style of the vintage, and yet there is fine balance." Vinous
"Plenty of hidden depth of black cherry and plum. Notes of Raspberry and strawberries with complexity and a fine balance and length." Decanter
"With fruit from above the village of Barolo, the G.D. Vajra 2018 Barolo Coste di Rose shows a large aromatic scope and ample substance. This vineyard is characterized by very high density Diano sandstone, which explains the wine’s bigger sensorial impact. Its texture is velvety and smooth, and the wine offers lots of purple and red fruits with soft earth and perfumed flower. The vintage is open knit and broad in scope, perhaps lacking some of the brilliant focus you get in the cooler years." Wine Advocate

Barolo “La Tartufaia” DOCG 2020
Giulia Negri would certainly not have the nickname "Barolo Girl" if this wine did not exist. The grapes for this archetype of a modern-traditional (sic!) Barolo come from the top vineyards of Brunate and Serradenari, the latter of which lies at an altitude of up to 520 metres and the soils are clayey-sandy. The grapes are fermented spontaneously and then matured in large oak barrels. Barriques? Not a chance.
Deep, light ruby red colour. Rose petals, nutty notes and small red berries on the nose. The fine aroma continues on the palate: even though it does not deny its origin or the grape variety, it has an almost unique elegance and freshness that makes it recognisable as a lively and complete top wine even at a young age. Further years of ageing are certainly not a mistake, as you can impressively feel how the increasing complexity with age joins the finesse and elegance that is already unmistakable today. A bottle for now and the rest not too far away in the cellar! SUPERIORE.DE
"This wine is deeply rooted in terroir, exuding a tapestry of forest floor, tar, earthy clay, and an range of medicinal herbs. Crushed cherries and raspberries move between the more savory note gently lifting the wine. Structured with vibrant acidity that lifts the tart red fruit flavors across the palate as fresh herbs and pine needle accents add to the complex nature of this wine." Wine Enthusiast

Limitation of 3 articles per customerBarolo “Castiglione” DOCG 2020
As always, Castiglione is mainly based on grapes from Ravera, with smaller portions from Ginestra, Mosconi, Bricco Ravera (in Monforte), Le Coste, Costabelle, Meriame, Briccolina and Codana. Every year it is a dazzling wine that shows how convincing even an "entry-level wine" from a top producer can be. Rich, voluptuous and explosive, it has enormous fullness and resonance from the very first sip. On the nose, bright red cherry and plum fruit, wild flowers, mint, blood orange and spices. Its silky tannins are accompanied by a beautiful, mentholated brightness. A real charmer! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with garnet-red reflections. Elegant on the nose with notes of raspberries and black cherries, slightly ethereal after varnish, plus undergrowth and rose petal. Fresh fruit on the palate, carried by invigorating acidity and fine-grained tannins. Persistent." Falstaff
"Always a popular choice, the 2020 Barolo Castiglione has a lush approach with dark fruit, cola, wild berry coulis and smoky tar. The wine carries a hot vintage well, with approachable and powdery tannins for short- or medium-term drinkability. In terms of texture, the Castiglione has more power and body than a standard Barolo." Wine Advocate
"Fragrant, polished and vibrant, the 2020 Barolo Castiglione shows beautiful notes of crushed red berries, rose petals, mint, white pepper and orange peel from the start. This classically built, medium-bodied Barolo is noble through and through. Like all 2020s here, it will benefit from time in the bottle or good decanting." Vinous
"Fast-paced and concentrated. I like the aromas of lavender, violets and white roses alongside strawberry, cranberry and stone. Medium-bodied, with firm and fine tannins that are long and juicy. It is fine and polished. Needs three to four years to develop." James Suckling

“Scarrone Vigna Vecchia” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021 (BIO)
Complex aromas with notes of wild berries, chocolate and mint, plenty of power, fruit and fullness on the palate, spicy and opulent final. A Barbera that can and should mature. The small edition of this exquisite extract from just under 1.4 hectares of vineyard usually sells out in no time at all. SUPERIORE.DE
"A smooth, lively red wine with sweet spices centred around a core of plum, black cherry and blueberry. Smooth in texture, with a line of dusty tannins on the finish. Balanced, just needs time. Decant now." Wine Spectator
"Floral aromas with sandalwood to the character of black berries and black cherries. Medium-bodied with firm and racy tannins. A juicy and bright finish. 50% of the vineyards were planted in 1918." James Suckling
"As if staring into a purple void, this deep Barbera draws the attention immediately open with aromas of framboise liquor, dried violets and baking spice. Forward, fun and serious at the same time, the wine pops with tart cherry jam and wild herb flavors with vibrant acidity keeping the palate fresh." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barbera d'Alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia 2021 is endowed with enormous depth and resonance. Black cherry, plum, smoke, liquorice and chocolate are all turned up to the max. The Vigna Vecchia is Vietti's most extracted Barbera. As such, it is also the one most clearly associated with the wines of the past. It is certainly a good performance, but it is not significantly better than the Scarrone." Vinous

“Vigna Valmaggiore” Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC 2022
Intense ruby red with garnet-coloured shimmer. Fragrant, very delicate bouquet with pleasant fruity notes of cherries, wild berries and spices - plus a delicate hint of liquorice. The full and harmonious flavour, with just the right amount of tannin, is persistent and flattering and makes this Nebbiolo a "little Barolo" and a unique wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Bruno Giacosa 2022 Nebbiolo d'Alba Vigna Valmaggiore opens to bright cherry flavors and a pretty ruby color. The wine shows great fruit intensity, and there is a note of candied cherry that really pops in this vintage. It is especially fruity and bright. The fruit is generous and primary, and the wine ends with mildly chalky tannins." Wine Advocate
"This wine is very serious for the appellation, with pure cherry, bark and walnut character and a hint of dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, firm and concentrated, with integrated tannins and a long and flavourful finish. More like a Barolo. Great location. Give it another year or two, but it's already impressive." James Suckling

“Costa del Vento” Derthona Timorasso 2020
Walter Massa's single-vineyard Timorasso Costa del Vento is made by a cold maceration of about 40 hours, a subsequent fermentation of about 12 months in stainless steel tanks under regular batonnage of the yeast for about 12 months. It is stronger and richer than the basic Timorasso and therefore needs more attention and further bottle ageing.
Impressive, almost lush bouquet of green and yellow stone fruit, plus notes of roasted nuts, honey and peach puree. Very powerful and multi-layered on the palate, almost viscous, but always precisely defined and without any sweetness. The fascination of this great white wine will only fully reveal itself in a few years, but its power and simultaneous balance already make it one of the most amazing and leading Timorasso monuments of the Colli Tortonesi.
