Pinot Nero Langhe DOC 2021 (BIO)
Vajras Pinot Nero is a selection of the best grapes and a wine of great personality. Fresh and floral fragrance, complex, deep fruit with a fluid flavour development and bold minerality. Silky, long and very expressive. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Pinot Nero Langhe 2021 immediately stands out for its bright colour saturation. There are violets and red fruits, but now that a few months have passed since my tasting, I expect the bouquet to come out even more." Wine Advocate
"With its bright acidity, tannins and somewhat austere finish, the Pinot Nero 2021 is more like a wine from Piedmont than a true Pinot. It is a fascinating wine." Vinous

Barolo “Paesi Tuoi” DOCG 2019
Barolo Paesi Tuoi was named after Cesare Pavese's 1941 novel "Among Peasants". Dark, bright ruby red colour. Wide, warm aroma of sour cherries, wild berries, leather, rose petals and mint. The expressive flavour is harmoniously engaging with clear fruit of black cherry, star anise and clove, framed by fine-grained tannins. A cleanly vinified, mature Barolo with potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby red with slightly brightening edges. Compact, ripe fruit notes on the nose, with tobacco spice and ethereal hints behind. Elegant and juicy on the palate, harmonious, refreshing acidity structure, fine-grained tannins, spicy, lingering final." Falstaff
"Aromas of spicy red fruit, dried citrus rind and oyster shell follow though to a medium-bodied palate with firm but not chewy tannins. The flavors remain bright and focused through the finish." James Suckling

Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2021
Garnet red with a light red rim. Beautiful red fruit flavour, interwoven with a subtle spicy vein. With a little aeration, this is already a very fine, beguiling and valuable wine, which creates a wonderful drinking flow with its juiciness. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo, from young vines in Basarin, is far from an easygoing wine. If anything, it needs time in bottle to be at its best. Today bright acids and piercing tannins dominate, and there is fine persistence, not to mention tons of class. Crushed flowers, chalk, white pepper and a burst of red berry fruit linger." Vinous

“Mimmo” Rosso 2019
Mimmo is a triumvirate of the wonderful autochthonous grape varieties Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Croatina from 100-year-old vineyards on Montalbano and Santuario porphyry soils at an altitude of 500 metres. The Nebbiolo parcels come from the same vineyards as the cult wine Boca and are harvested and processed according to the same quality principles. The division between Boca and Mimmo is made by tasting the lots after two years of ageing in large wooden barrels.
Some lots from the estate's own vineyards in the Boca DOC ripen a little earlier than others, without losing their original character. Together with 30% Croatina, the final result is Mimmo, named after an unforgettable person who has helped to raise the quality level of the Le Piane winery to what it is today. With his approachable manner, he opens the door to the more complex Boca at a more affordable price.
Fine, floral bouquet. Great and precise fruit on the palate. Powerful tannins envelop a core of bright red fruits, tobacco, crushed flowers and liquorice. The flavours and supple texture round off beautifully on the deep finish with well-dosed pressure. It is rightly described as the younger brother of the Boca and is a great choice for drinking over the next five years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light garnet red colour with a brick edge. Peppery, ageing red fruits, with an impression of crushed stones, fragrant but not floral. On the palate, chalky-dry tannins, refined and sinewy at the same time. The tannins still need time, even if they are finely integrated." Jancis Robinson
"The Mimmo 2019 is a deep, powerful wine, despite its medium-weight structure. Crushed rose petals, sage, mint, tobacco and cedar give it a remarkable brightness. Lively acidity and spicy accents round off the whole." Vinous
"Here is a great example of the Le Piane style in terms of complexity via blending, along with notable finesse and immediate drinkability. Aromas of wild strawberry, redcurrant, blood orange and red poppy. Very good acidity and impressive persistence. The finish is fruit-driven with excellent freshness and good persistence. A delight!" “Bricco Ravera” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2019
The Langhe Nebbiolo Bricco Ravera is a decidedly potent and virile wine. Juicy red cherry, smoke, leather, cedar and tobacco flow from the glass in a very emphatic, energetic way. It is a very straightforward, consistent Nebbiolo with a lot of personality. If it's not supposed to be Barbaresco or Barolo every day, this wine is a real alternative! SUPERIORE.DE
"This is very light and polished with dried strawberry, nutmeg and orange peel. Some rose undertones, too. Crisp and delicious. Don’t be put off by the light color. Drink now." James Suckling

“Monleale” Barbera Colli Tortonesi DOC 2017
Monleale is a rich, intoxicating wine. Medium ruby-garnet in colour, the bouquet has a subtle sweetness, dried cherry, balsamic notes and clove. On the palate, spicy and earthy undertones support its precise core of dense red cherry and plum fruit, while it briskly presents a powerful and pleasantly savoury style that is ideal for the dining table. Monleale has plenty of personality and character, and its persistence and longevity make it one of the most profound and intense Barbera wines to be found in this price range. SUPERIORE.DE

“Ginestrino” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2022 (BIO)
For us, one of the best Nebbiolo from the Langhe. Some winemakers would make the entry-level Barolo from this excellent base wine from younger parcels. Multi-layered, dark bouquet of wild berries, menthol, spices and rosehip. The palate is powerful, present, with a taut finish and pronounced primary fruit. The tannins are well woven and very supple. Impeccable elegance! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Ginestrino is laced with crushed red berry fruit, cedar, tobacco, spice, mint and dried flowers. This lithe, elegant Langhe Nebbiolo has quite a bit to offer. It's a lovely entry-level offering, especially in this vintage." Vinous
"The Conterno Fantino 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Ginestrino reveals medium-rich concentration with primary fruits that touch the darker side of the Nebbiolo spectrum. Notes of blackberry and wild plum are softened by oak, tarry spice and toasted cinnamon. The wine deserves a bigger drinking window, probably taking it up to the 10-year mark." Wine Advocate
"Fine and polished with lightly chewy tannins and a medium body. Juicy and red-fruited with hints of cocoa. Velvety finish." James Suckling

Barbera d’Alba DOC 2022
Tantalising aromas of tart plums, boysenberries and wildflowers rise from the glass of this energetic and unique Barbera. The fleshy palate is fuelled by tart blue and black fruits, with a mix of spice and mouth-watering acidity on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense purple-red colour with a dark core. Inviting, fruit-accentuated bouquet, blackberries and blueberries, with a hint of violets and some cloves. Very soft and generous on the palate, firm tannins and a lingering, juicy finish." Falstaff
"An opulent style that combines a velvety texture with rich flavours of plum, black cherry, boysenberry and vanilla. Harmonious and lively, with a light touch of tannins on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2022 Barbera d'Alba is packed with ripe red cherry/plum fruit. Mocha, spice, cedar and leather add layers of nuance. This succulent, forward Barbera is an absolute delight." Vinous

“L’Avvelenata” Freisa Marca Obertenga 2021 vivace
What would Piedmont be without its slightly sparkling red Freisa? Normally, the Piedmontese tend to enjoy these incredibly drinkywines themselves, so that there is hardly any relevant quantity left for export. On the nose, it has an animating aroma of rose petals, cinnamon and cherry, which is also reflected in the flavour. L'Avvenata is a rather slender red that is remotely reminiscent of a Nebbiolo. Its softer tannins and greater fruitiness make it a joyful and very lively companion for all occasions, even when slightly chilled at a young age. SUPERIORE.DE

“Pian delle Mole” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2022
The perfect introduction to the impressive craft of a young winemaker who has already come a long way on her way to the top. Here Nebbiolo comes into the glass in purezza, the ageing partly in 500 Liters tonneaux and stainless steel interprets it - according to Giulia Negri's vision - unadulterated and without distractions. Bright ruby red in colour, with a bouquet of small red berries, damp forest floor and a subtle hint of violets. Impressively elegant and supple on the palate, the Nebbiolo always remains taut and cool. In the final, the dark fruit beguiles with a freshness and juiciness that never seems opulent, but carries the tension into the long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

Barolo DOCG 2020
The Barolo from Batasiolo is a wonderful and very serious, solid creature. Clear, shimmering garnet red colour with light red accents. Sophisticated aromas of leather and liquorice, plums, dried flowers and undergrowth. Straightforward and taut, the round, aromatic flavour follows its path into the persistent final with good length. This is a lot of Barolo for comparatively little money. SUPERIORE.DE

Barbera d’Asti Riserva Nizza DOCG 2019
Barbera d'Asti Riserva from the noble DOCG Nizza opens with dark red fruit, followed by smoke, spices and flowers. Dense, intense fruit with a pleasantly salty, mineral note on the palate. Impressive Barbera presentation with a long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of macerated black cherries and ripe raspberries combine with star anise, cedar and violets that pour out of the glass. The palate is loaded with notes of ripe plum, blackberries, fresh thyme and fine oak spices. Structured tannins give the wine heft, finishing with enough acidity to balance each component." Wine Enthusiast
"This wine has a red fruity character with notes of tea leaves, dried herbs and ground cloves. Medium-bodied with bright and lively fruit, crisp acidity and firm, polished tannins. Fresh and spicy." James Suckling
"A pure nose of cherry and other ripe red fruits. With sour cherry, plums and dried cranberries. Freshness and balance, precision and intensity, the oak is well integrated." Decanter
"The 2019 Nizza Riserva is packed with dark fruits, graphite, cured meat, cloves, leather and lavender. Deep and layered, with enormous stature, the Riserva is a wonderfully complete wine that just needs a few years in the bottle to round itself out. “Pétracine” Riesling Langhe DOC 2022 (BIO)
The pioneer of Riesling on Italian soil is Aldo Vajra. Already fascinated by the variety as a student, he planted the first vines of the White Riesling variety in the Langa. Very light yellow-green in colour when young, developing into a strong straw yellow. The flavours of the noble Pètracine also take a varied course. Starting with peach and apricot, delicate floral and citrus notes follow in the middle, while minerality takes centre stage as the wine matures. Harmonious and precisely structured on the palate, almost austere, fascinatingly complex and long. Great ageing potential! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2022 Riesling Pétracine is a beautiful white that marries varietal notes with the natural richness of the year. Sweet jasmine, tangerine peel, ginger, passionfruit and lemon confit lend exotic beauty to Vajra's Riesling in 2022. I imagine time in bottle will bring out more of the textual oiliness that is in the background at present." Vinous
"The organic G.D. Vajra 2022 Langhe Riesling Pétracine (the name is hard to read given the vines surrounding the lettering on the front of the label) is very direct and bright with a sharp citrus quality that stands out thanks to crushed stone and tropical fruit. A bright, supple wine that is great fun to drink (especially young)." Wine Advocate

“Oudeis” Metodo Classico Rosé de Saignée Alta Langa DOCG 2017 brut
"Oudeis" has its origins in the Greek name "Odysseus" and means "nobody". And indeed, no one but the outstanding terroir of the Alta Langa is responsible for the complexity of Enrico Serafino's sparkling wines.
Delicate, copper-coloured pink with orange reflections. Elegant and mineral nose, with delicate hints of fruit, yeast and notes of grapefruit and redcurrants. The sensation on the palate is savoury, almost ecstatic, with well-integrated perlage and a perfect balance between spiciness and freshness and an infinite persistence and juiciness. SUPERIORE.DE
"This delicately scented sparkler offers aromas of red woodland berry and brioche. Linear and savory, the elegantly sparkling palate features juicy pomegranate, tart cherry and white pepper before closing on a hint of hazelnut. Barbaresco DOCG 2021
Light ruby red with orange reflections. Fine bouquet of violets, forest floor, cherries and a balsamic camphor note. Marasca cherry, some raspberry, liquorice and a hint of mint on the palate. "Dense, deep red berry flavours, dark cherries, firmly framed by grippy tannins, still slightly porous in texture, rather a head of character that still needs to round off a little." Weinwisser
"This is a bright and perfumed Barbaresco that shows potpourri, rosehips, dried strawberries and orange peel on the nose. It is medium-bodied, tangy and lively, with firm tannins and crisp acidity." James Suckling
"A vibrant blend of candied and fresh red fruits, bay leaf and green herbs, with hints of cinchona bark and blooming rose. Dried cherry leads the palate in a tangy, delicious dance with a playful herbal note. Elegant tannins frame the entire palate, while notes of gravel and earth finish the wine." Wine Enthusiast
"The Fontanabianca 2021 Barbaresco delivers sharp, pinpoint focus with cherry and cassis over a medium-plus mouthfeel. The fruit takes center stage, but the wine also unfolds slowly over time to showcase crushed stone, dried herbs and pressed violet." Wine Advocate

Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2023
Brilliant dark ruby red colour. Creamy bouquet with delicate hints of dark chocolate and black cherry. "The just bottled Dolcetto d'Alba 2023 is aromatic, graceful and light on its feet. Crushed flowers, spices, liquorice, leather and bluish fruit adorn this unobtrusive Dolcetto. The 2023 spent almost 90 days on the skins, followed by ageing in barrels and cement. Like so many wines from this vintage, this Dolcetto is of the lighter variety." Vinous

Derthona Timorasso 2022
The best plots around Monleale, from which the grapes for the Derthona Timorasso come, cover just 11 hectares. They are located in the Apennine and pre-Apennine hills of the Marca Obertenga, the soils contain mainly marl and clayey layers.
The deep bouquet has green and yellow fruit notes, orange confit, graphite, mint and a hint of camomile. On the palate, it marches straight ahead with that certain exotic something, its pleasantly fresh acidity and fine tannins into a long finish with an attractive citrus peel bitterness reminiscent of Chinotto and a mineral vein. The 12-month contact during fermentation in stainless steel on the lees ensures that it gains in depth and complexity with each year of further bottle ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"This wine is from the estate that brought Timorasso back from the brink of extinction. Walter Massa continues to craft wines that captivate and energize the soul. This wine opens with pure sunshine, with vibrant apple and yellow-peach aromas dancing alongside wildflowers and hints of fresh herbs. Brace yourself for a tantalizing texture and layers of juicy fruits on a foundation of stone and salt. It's a modern masterpiece that will leave you craving more." Wine Enthusiast

“Bernardina” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2022 (BIO)
Bernardina is a wine with an interesting history. The Bernardina vineyard was once part of a 600-hectare estate belonging to a noble family who did not care much for wine. When the appellation boundaries for Barolo were established, this family never lobbied to become part of the area now registered for the production of Barolo DOCG. Today, the vineyard is managed by the Ceretto family, who have instead focussed on the production of Nebbiolo d'Alba. Nebbiolo d'Alba is an appellation in which the grapes from the Barolo and Barbaresco wine regions have been declassified and which is becoming increasingly popular.
Fragrant and floral with aromas of rose petals, violets and wild berries. The finish is polished and clean with hints of smoke, liquorice and tar. The wine has had a short maturation period in barriques, which gives it impressive complexity and length. SUPERIORE.DE

Barolo “Paesi Tuoi” DOCG 2020
Barolo Paesi Tuoi was named after Cesare Pavese's 1941 novel "Among Peasants". Dark, bright ruby red colour. Wide, warm aroma of sour cherries, wild berries, leather, rose petals and mint. The expressive flavour is harmoniously engaging with clear fruit of black cherry, star anise and clove, framed by fine-grained tannins. A cleanly vinified, mature Barolo with potential. SUPERIORE.DE

“Blanc” Sauvignon Bianco Langhe DOC 2023
New world meets old world. Exciting Sauvignon Bianco with lots of exotic fruits such as mango and lemon, plus a noble spiciness and notes of green tomato leaves, white stone and quince. Full-bodied and creamy on the palate with a tangy, electrifying acidity on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Transparent straw yellow with silver reflections. Aromatic nose, gooseberry, grapefruit, elderflower, somewhat reminiscent of drops. Juicy, tangy and salty on the palate, medium-bodied, clear acidity, lively flavour and balanced final." Falstaff
"Subtle flavours of sliced lemons, green melon and hints of stones and dry earth. Medium body with fresh acidity and a crisp and tangy finish. Classic sauvignon blanc. Subtle, bright and clear." James Suckling

“Mimmo” Rosso 2020
Mimmo is a triumvirate of the wonderful autochthonous grape varieties Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Croatina from vines up to 100 years old on Montalbano and Santuario porphyry soils at an altitude of 500 metres. The Nebbiolo parcels come from the same vineyards as the cult wine Boca and are harvested and processed according to the same quality principles. The division between Boca and Mimmo is made by tasting after two years of ageing in large wooden barrels.
"Light carmine red colour. Pretty, with red fruit and citrus flavours. Wild, herbal and inviting. Excellent depth of cherry fruit, soft tannins, excellent balance and delicious length." Jancis Robinson
"The 2020 Mimmo, is a little more generous than the 2019 and easier to savour in its youth. Juicy dark red cherry, sage, menthol, liquorice and herbs are beautifully enhanced in a wine that combines fruit intensity with structure." Vinous

Limitation of 4 articles per customer“Gisep” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021
"If our Barbera d'Alba DOC is a traditional red wine from the Langhe, we consider Gisep to be a representative of a grape variety that is also capable of astonishment. Gisep means Giuseppe in Piedmontese: a tribute to our grandfather, who was instrumental in the development of our winery. We make it from a selection of grapes from different vineyards, and only in the best years. Structured and lush, pleasantly complex and rounded, yet surprisingly long-lasting and full of character." Franco Massolino
Massolino's Barbera d'Alba Gisep focuses on the sultry, smoky and refined side of this favourite Piedmontese grape. If the winery's classic Barbera is a bare and exposed expression, this wine shows the smart clothes and accessories that elevate it to first class. Dark cherry, plum, smoke, liquorice, incense and new leather give the current edition a terrific complexity of flavour and depth. SUPERIORE.DE
"Very deep crimson. Much denser than the simpler bottling, with a slightly mossy nose. Very bright and dense and sleek. Really grabs the palate. Finishes with quite a bit of acidity. Real bite. Youthful." Jancis Robinson
"The Barbera d'Alba Gisep 2021 is a blend of three Barbera parcels in vineyards labelled Barolo. Dark blue/purple fruit, lavender, cloves and mocha give the 2021 an impressive complexity. The Gisep is deep and rich, but by no means overly heavy. Another great wine from Massolino." Vinous
