“Ai Suma” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2019 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. Rich and complex bouquet, with numerous hints of black fruits and underlying notes of vanilla, oak, some tar, liquorice and cocoa. Full, powerful, full of character, but at the same time elegant and sensual taste with a delicately sweet aftertaste, harmonious and very delicate. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby red. The nose is very broad and shows structure and complexity. Notes of ripe red fruits, liquorice, vanilla and toasted wood, also hints of leather and cocoa powder. Juicy on the palate, elegantly full-bodied, harmonious and persistent finish." Falstaff
"The 2019 Barbera d’Asti Ai Suma is laced with blackberry jam, crème de cassis, sweet spice, licorice, lavender and plenty of sweet French oak. Silky and supple, with terrific balance, this decidedly extroverted Asti Barbera delivers the goods, and then some." Vinous

“Ai Suma” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2021 · 6 bottles in OWC
Ai Suma offers great balance and tension. Intense ruby red with garnet-coloured reflections. There is a lot of black fruit on the nose and on the palate, along with spices, tar and leather. The wine ends with a hint of sweetness, but the natural acidity of the grape comes through to add a pinch of freshness at the end, emphasising the class of this wine. Full-bodied, powerful, full of character, but at the same time elegant, harmonious and very persistent - every year a Barbera in a class of its own. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium, transparent ruby red colour with garnet reflections. Very intensely fruity and spicy nose of ripe cherries and plums, liquorice and toasted notes, with hints of leather and dark chocolate. Juicy and fruity on the palate, very harmonious with a good tannin structure and a long final." Falstaff
"A spiced and earthy red with a medium to full body, firm tannins and rich, exuberant fruit character. It goes deep in dark cherries, plums, ground spices, cocoa and smoked cedar. Tight and lingering." James Suckling
"Plum, blackberry, chocolate, spicy pipe tobacco and earth flavors mark this dense, muscular red. Compact and burly on the finish for now, where a bitter almond note emerges. This improved with air, so decant now or age for a few more years." Wine Spectator
"The Ai Suma, a rare gem made only in the most exceptional vintages, is a paradox in a glass. This opaque late-harvest Barbera may seem imposing, but it's a bear hug of a wine, with blackberry compote, dried violets, star anise and fresh vanilla melding together in harmony. Lush and mouth-filling, it's a powerhouse with restraint, thanks to well-structured tannins and lifting acidity." Wine Enthusiast

"This is quite ripe and spicy with dried cherries, moist bark and hints of undergrowth. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and concentrated with a juicy core of red and dark berries and velvety tannins. Lingering and flavorful." James Suckling
"The Braida 2020 Barbera d'Asti Ai Suma shows a very ripe bouquet featuring air-dried fruit, raisin and prune. There is a lot of muscle and power in this wine delivered in terms of texture, concentration and alcohol that in this vintage measures a whopping 16%. Think of this as the Amarone of Asti. The finish is creamy soft and slightly sweet." Wine Advocate
