Roero Arneis is also known as Barolo Bianco, which is entirely true for this excellent white wine from Neve's noble forge. Bruna Giacosa's Arneis in particular is a great example of a Roero wine that surpasses the normality of the appellation by far and at the same time has a great sense of inner freshness and complexity.

This rare spumante made from 100 per cent Pinot Nero is a real treat. The bouquet has a hint of flowers and alpine herbs, the flavour is delicately fruity with an elegant bitter note and a very complex finish. SUPERIORE.DE

Powerful and compact on the palate, with a well-proportioned cornucopia of black fruits such as blackberries and cassis, plus some liquorice. As the wine progresses, its power and a certain pressure become apparent, but it never comes across as wild or ostentatious, instead always reflecting the elegance of the vineyard and the typical Giacosa ageing in large oak. The magnificent Asili 2022 opens with a dark, compact appearance and displays an impressive level of aromatic intensity and complexity. On the nose, tantalising aromas of cherry, strawberry, eucalyptus, plus a hint of orange peel, rose petals and pine wood. Full to medium-bodied on the palate, with crushed raspberries, juicy red cherries, cinnamon and chopped herbs. The fresh acidity and exquisite tannins provide a bright and extremely elegant backdrop. The Barolo Falletto from the hillside of the same name in Serralunga, where the winery is also located, has a wonderfully complex and racy personality. It impresses with the intensity of its dark fruit and the excellent overall balance that can only be found in this coveted site. Its spectrum ranges from small dark berries to menthol, flowers and liquorice to a tannin that is present yet trimmed for consistent elegance. It is a particularly precise and direct Barolo without being loud. However, its full character, aromatic diversity and delicacy will only really come to the fore with further bottle ageing.
