This is the second vintage of Roberto's "entry-level Barolo" and its grapes come from four of his best sites, harvested a few weeks earlier than those then reserved for his Grand Crus. This year, too, he has married them into a beautiful Barolo and the Barolo Comune di La Morra ranks almost seamlessly within reach of the class of his top tier. It is also the most balanced of his Barolos, even if fruit and acidity are anything but restrained, but the proportions are simply right here once again. The structure is great, its length and also the elegance inspiring - the refined layered components like raspberry, cherry and its subtle salty vein make it without a doubt one of the most serious wines of the entire appellation - this is a real Voerzio for comparatively little money.
