Moscato d’Asti DOCG 2023
Viettis Moscato is a perfect, light aperitif and harmonious dessert companion. A fresh bouquet of parsley, dill, fennel and cress. Orange and apricot jam on the palate, with a cheerful perlage, cool and light in the body, but also juicy like fresh fruit. This is great fun without being the least bit banal. A picture-book Moscato! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, radiant green-yellow with a delicate, persistent perlage. Slightly reductive on the nose, with light citrus fruit and white flowers. Juicy, clear, precise on the palate, with a fine salty undertone, drinks very well." Falstaff

Freisa Langhe DOC 2019 vivace
The grapes for this very traditional Piedmont red wine come from selected vineyard sites on the hills of the Langhe region. The special thing about the vinification: a small part of the mash is frozen unfermented. The alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks lasts about two weeks, with very little handling and agitation of the mash. Then, without the addition of sulphurous acid, the young wine is moved to a wooden barrel where the malolactic fermentation takes place. Once this is complete, the previously frozen portion of unfermented must is added and the wine is bottled in this way. A second fermentation now takes place in the bottle, whereby these are placed upright so that the yeast deposit settles on the bottom of the bottle.
Deep ruby red. Intense aroma with fruity red and black berries and floral notes as well as nuances of asphalt. Powerful on the nose, full-bodied, with prominent tannin and fresh acidity on the palate. Fine perlage and a long, persistent final.
Please note that this wine should always be stored standing up. Also, care should be taken when opening, as the pressure may vary from bottle to bottle due to the carbonic acid naturally produced in the wine. SUPERIORE.DE

“Trevìe” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2022
The grapes for the Barbera d'Alba, which impresses every year, come mainly from vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, with a small proportion of the fruit coming from Ravera. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, leather, liquorice, spices and menthol are presented here in an intoxicating, exotically ripe wine that is a joy to drink even at a young age. Derthona Timorasso Colli Tortonesi DOC 2022
The still young DOC Colli Tortonesi is probably still one of the least known wine regions in Piedmont. The term Derthona is already used as a generic term. It is the old name for Tortona, a small village in the centre of the DOC. The indigenous white grape variety Timorasso led a shadowy existence for many years, but today some winegrowers are already calling it the "white Barolo". This is due to its great complexity and finesse on the one hand and the excellent ageing potential of the wines on the other. In addition, the grapes often vary in size and ripeness during the harvest, which makes selection a major challenge, just as with the great Nebbiolo crus.
Light yellow in colour, tending towards golden as it matures in the bottle. The nose is very fresh, floral and fruity, with some orange confit, petrol and honey. Rich and deep on the palate, with an almost Riesling-like minerality and fine acid wire. With increasing aeration, it becomes more multi-layered, complex and surprisingly deep, hinting at the great potential of the grape variety. Not an off-the-peg wine, but all the more convincing for those wine lovers who expect character, personality and a high degree of independence from a white wine. For us, Timorasso is THE white grape variety discovery of recent years and Vietti's new addition, alongside the whites from Roagna and Walter Massa, is an excellent example of how Italian white wines can play at the very top of the international league! SUPERIORE.DE
"This classic Timorasso showcases a distinctive herbal edge, with layers of aromas and flavors. The nose offers crisp green apple and lemon pith, hinting at the wine's vibrant character. On the palate, the green-apple notes become more pronounced, with a tart quality that adds to the freshness. The lemon pith brings a bitter, zesty dimension, complementing the wine's herbal undertones, which evoke sensations of freshly crushed thyme and sage. These flavors intertwine seamlessly, creating a complex and textured experience that highlights the unique attributes of the Timorasso grape." Wine Enthusiast

“Vigna Scarrone” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021 (BIO)
Barbera d'Alba Scarrone from the vineyard of the same name is a beautifully complex, rich Barbera cru. Aromas of dark, fragrant fruit, spices, liquorice and minerals. Opulent and impeccably balanced, silky tannins, sweet floral notes on the long, dry finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Spicy, with flavours of black cherry, violet, cumin and cardamom and a hint of toasted oak. Fresh and harmonious, with a long-lasting finish." Wine Spectator
"Lots of black berries and black liquorice on the nose, medium body, very fine tannins and a fresh and lively finish. Fine texture." James Suckling
"This single-vineyard Barbera pops out of the glass with tart blueberry and boysenberry jam aromas accented by candied violets and savory spices. Round and giving, the wine aims to please while still being serious. Ripe mixed berries combine with dried herbs and finish with such great structure and acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barbera d'Alba Vigna Scarrone 2021 is dense, lush and explosive. An onslaught of dark red cherry and plum fruit, mocha, liquorice, spices, rose petals and a hint of French oak builds in the glass. The Scarrone is another excellent Barbera from Vietti, powerful and quite deep. The Scarrone has developed very well in recent years." Vinous

“La Crena” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Every year, La Crena is one of the best and most refined Barbera wines that Piedmont produces. The vines in the Vigna del Nove parcel date back to the 1930s. This vintage will also need many years to develop its full expressiveness, but that's the way it is and we love this crazy development potential so much. La Crena is creamy and rich in the glass, dense, very concentrated with an abundance of layers of fruit that only develop fully with further years of ageing and make for an energetic, exciting wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense violet colour with ruby reflections and a brightening rim. Ripe fruit of blueberries and blackberries on the nose, some thyme, underlaid with cinnamon and dark chocolate. Powerful and balanced on the palate with a good acid structure and harmonious tannins, ending with a long final of fruit and spice." Falstaff
"The certified organic Vietti 2021 Barbera d'Asti La Crena shows a very good sense of balance with sweet and savory sides that transcend the bouquet. It starts off with redcurrant, a lightly floral note, rose hip and Amarena cherry. In fact, that sour cherry note continues to the palate, giving this wine a bright, red fruit quality that works with the darker side the Barbera grape." Wine Advocate
"Opulent bouquet with dark fruits, softened by a stylish oak. Smooth and juicy, fine texture, balanced by a strong acidity that adds some spice and flair to the finish. Vincenzo Arnese: Candied aromas of sour cherry and wild strawberry, very expressive. Powerful on the palate with robust tannins that will smooth out over time, but still very rich and pleasant." Decanter
"The Barbera d'Asti La Crena 2021 is exceptional. Bright, reddish fruit, chalk, mint, white pepper and rose petals are beautifully emphasised. Vietti has recently placed more emphasis on freshness in his Barberas, and this is particularly evident in La Crena - a wine that used to be very dark and heavy, but is now far from it. Clean, mineral notes prolong the lively finish. Give this wine a few years to develop the full range of its flavours. What a wine!" Vinous

Barolo “Castiglione” DOCG 2020
As always, Castiglione is mainly based on grapes from Ravera, with smaller portions from Ginestra, Mosconi, Bricco Ravera (in Monforte), Le Coste, Costabelle, Meriame, Briccolina and Codana. Every year it is a dazzling wine that shows how convincing even an "entry-level wine" from a top producer can be. Rich, voluptuous and explosive, it has enormous fullness and resonance from the very first sip. On the nose, bright red cherry and plum fruit, wild flowers, mint, blood orange and spices. Its silky tannins are accompanied by a beautiful, mentholated brightness. A real charmer! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with garnet-red reflections. Elegant on the nose with notes of raspberries and black cherries, slightly ethereal after varnish, plus undergrowth and rose petal. Fresh fruit on the palate, carried by invigorating acidity and fine-grained tannins. Persistent." Falstaff
"Always a popular choice, the 2020 Barolo Castiglione has a lush approach with dark fruit, cola, wild berry coulis and smoky tar. The wine carries a hot vintage well, with approachable and powdery tannins for short- or medium-term drinkability. In terms of texture, the Castiglione has more power and body than a standard Barolo." Wine Advocate
"Fragrant, polished and vibrant, the 2020 Barolo Castiglione shows beautiful notes of crushed red berries, rose petals, mint, white pepper and orange peel from the start. This classically built, medium-bodied Barolo is noble through and through. Like all 2020s here, it will benefit from time in the bottle or good decanting." Vinous
"Fast-paced and concentrated. I like the aromas of lavender, violets and white roses alongside strawberry, cranberry and stone. Medium-bodied, with firm and fine tannins that are long and juicy. It is fine and polished. Needs three to four years to develop." James Suckling

“Scarrone Vigna Vecchia” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021 (BIO)
Complex aromas with notes of wild berries, chocolate and mint, plenty of power, fruit and fullness on the palate, spicy and opulent final. A Barbera that can and should mature. The small edition of this exquisite extract from just under 1.4 hectares of vineyard usually sells out in no time at all. SUPERIORE.DE
"A smooth, lively red wine with sweet spices centred around a core of plum, black cherry and blueberry. Smooth in texture, with a line of dusty tannins on the finish. Balanced, just needs time. Decant now." Wine Spectator
"Floral aromas with sandalwood to the character of black berries and black cherries. Medium-bodied with firm and racy tannins. A juicy and bright finish. 50% of the vineyards were planted in 1918." James Suckling
"As if staring into a purple void, this deep Barbera draws the attention immediately open with aromas of framboise liquor, dried violets and baking spice. Forward, fun and serious at the same time, the wine pops with tart cherry jam and wild herb flavors with vibrant acidity keeping the palate fresh." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barbera d'Alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia 2021 is endowed with enormous depth and resonance. Black cherry, plum, smoke, liquorice and chocolate are all turned up to the max. The Vigna Vecchia is Vietti's most extracted Barbera. As such, it is also the one most clearly associated with the wines of the past. It is certainly a good performance, but it is not significantly better than the Scarrone." Vinous

“Perbacco” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2020 · MAGNUM in OWC
Perbacco shows in the fresh bouquet first slightly leafy notes, then lots of cherry. On the palate nicely round, lots of ripe fruit, of cherries and red berries, underpinned by fine-grained tannin, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco offers bright fruit and dried blueberries with hints of cherry wood and spice. The effect is mild but well balanced, and the wine enhances its food friendliness with fresh acidity to cut through cream or cheese." Wine Advocate
"The Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco 2020 is another excellent entry-level wine from Vietti. In this vintage, the Perbacco is particularly fine. Sweet dried cherries, herbs, mint, crushed flowers, anise and orange peel adorn this distinctive, seductive Nebbiolo. It has enormous depth. For years, Perbacco was a very serious wine - some would say almost too serious - for its peers. Then Vietti switched to a simpler style. With the 2020, Perbacco again seems to be a wine that exceeds expectations, and exceeds them in spades. Frankly, the 2020 is more satisfying than many Barbarescos and Barolos I've tasted this year." Vinous
"This is a fresh and fruit-driven Nebbiolo with notes of raspberries and cherries, orange peel and chocolate. Also some dried flowers. Medium to full-bodied, firm and racy with ripe but tight, compact tannins that run the length of the wine. Well crafted. Long and even." James Suckling
"From the moment the cork is pulled you will be smitten with aromas of cherry, wild herbs, dried rose and anise enticing you to the glass. The wine delivers fresh and clear red-berried fruit snuggled with sweet and savory spices finishing with crunchy acidity begging you to take that next sip." Wine Enthusiast

“La Crena” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
The extremely complex Barbera d'Asti La Crena comes from vines up to 90 years old in the heart of the Nizza Monferrato region and smells of ripe red fruits, hay and pastries. The full-bodied, warm taste lingers long with plenty of dark fruit, well-proportioned acidity and fine cocoa tones. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Vietti 2018 Barbera d'Asti La Crena sees its fruit sourced from very old vines with some of the plants approaching the 100-year-old mark. This is a rich and darkly concentrated wine with a lovely bouquet that is lifted and bright. The wine reveals dark cherry fruit, raw blackberry and plum. That opulent, old-vine fruit drowns out much of the acidic sharpness of the grape." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Barbera d'Asti La Crena is a powerful, tightly wound wine. Readers should be in no rush here. In 2019, La Crena is a bit reticent and less opulent than it can be, but then again, this is a wine that only blossoms with a few years in bottle. Inky dark fruit, gravel, smoke, crushed rocks, spice and lavender open with air, but only reluctantly. The 2018 will be a jewel for those who can wait." Vinous

"Lifted and very aromatic, this wine tantalizes with notes of macerated cherries, wild rose, sandalwood, star anise and wild herbs working with such harmony you have trouble taking the first sip. The lush and round palate bursts with plush red-berried fruits that give way to savory and warm spicy notes finishing with fresh earth notes." Wine Enthusiast
"Deep and intense on the nose with red and dark berries, spicy herbs, dark chocolate and burnt orange peel. Also some wet earth. Full and complex with dusty tannins and a meaty juiciness. Long lasting and bright." James Suckling
"Part of the Scarrone vineyard was replanted in 1989, and from these younger vines comes the Vietti 2020 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Scarrone. This wine is also dense and darkly concentrated, but not to the same extent as the version made from the fruit of the old vines. Dark fruits, baked plums and sweet spices add dimension and volume to this wine." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Scarrone is outstanding. Rich and expansive, the 2020 is infused with the essence of dark cherry fruit, rose petals, cinnamon, leather and mocha take centre stage. All the elements come together so effortlessly. On the finish, floral and spicy notes reappear. This is such a noble and polished Barbera." Vinous

"Barbera from Asti is noticeably different from Barbera from Alba. You will recognize Asti for the brighter aromas, the tart fruit flavors and the freshness. The Vietti 2020 Barbera d'Asti La Crena makes this point with lifted aromas of sour cherry, unripe plum and pomegranate seed. The wine remains juicy and very fruit-forward, but the high tones are given more prominence here." Wine Advocate
"Notes of candied dark berries, chocolate, roasted spices and burnt orange peel. Full-bodied and intense with a toasted, chocolaty character. The juicy fruit is supported by a bed of broad but soft tannins. Long finish." James Suckling
"The Barbera d'Asti La Crena 2020 is soft and lush from the start. In this vintage, the La Crena is particularly forward and fruit-driven. The 2020 needs at least a couple of years to fully develop the classic aromas and flavours of La Crena. Hints of gravel, crushed rock and dried herbs hint at what is to come. La Crena usually blossoms with time in the bottle. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case here too." Vinous

“Vigna Scarrone” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC

“Scarrone Vigna Vecchia” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2020 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC
Scarrone Vigna Vecchia" has been certified organic since the 2019 vintage. Multi-layered aroma with notes of wild berries, chocolate and mint, lots of power, fruit and fullness on the palate, spicy-opulent final. A Barbera that can and should mature. The small edition of this exquisite extract from just under 1.4 hectares of vineyard is usually sold out in no time at all. SUPERIORE.DE
"Wow, this wine is all about concentration and power. This is due to several factors, including firstly the hot vintage and secondly the great age of these precious vines. Just remember that they were planted in 1918, during the final offensive of the First World War. The Vietti 2020 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia has a deep black appearance and is certainly not shy about its thickness and density. The wine coats the palate with baked fruit and blackberry jam. This is an extreme expression of Barbera, but considering the nuances, the wine also shows very careful balance." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia captures all the magic of the old vines in this cru from Castiglione Falletto. Black cherry, plum, liquorice, incense, melted road tar and spices combine in a Barbera of unusual complexity, power and elegance. Again, the purity of the flavours is downright compelling." Vinous
"Concentrated aromas of black cherry, cinnamon, black tea and rosebud are found in the glass. The palate is a study in both richness of fruit and lifted elegance as the lush cherry and blackberry flavors set the stage but are then bolstered by the vibrant acidity and sweet and savory spices. It's well-balanced and supremely structured." Wine Enthusiast

“Scarrone Vigna Vecchia” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC

Barbaresco Roncaglie DOCG 2020
First bottled in 1967, Roncaglie (formerly Barbaresco Masseria) comes from a vineyard in Bricco di Neive and is essentially vinified and aged like a Barolo. Since the 2018 vintage, it now comes from a small parcel that used to belong to the Socré Barbaresco winery and is now deliberately released a year later to ensure greater harmony and balance. Floral and spicy notes merge with a core of rich, generous fruit in a generous Barbaresco based on pure resonance. Barbaresco Roncaglie is vinified and matured in the same way as Vietti's single-vineyard Barolos. This means long fermentation, six months in French oak and more than two years in barrique. This, together with the broad shoulders of Neive, results in a noble Nebbiolo with clear hints of Barolo and impressive depth. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby. Firm, concentrated raspberry-fruit nose becoming more opulent and perfumed with aeration. Impressively balanced on the palate with wired, juicy raspberry and fine tannins. Full aromatic spread on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"The Vietti 2020 Barbaresco Roncaglie Masseria has bright rose, cherry, redcurrant and angel food cake with strawberries. There are mineral notes as well, and the fruit unfolds over the palate with gentle intensity. There is some oak spice, but it is very well integrated; and the wine shows good balance, especially where the tannins versus acidity is concerned." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Barbaresco, from vines in Roncaglie, sizzles with tension. Bright, red-toned fruit, orange peel, mint, white pepper and crushed rocks are all beautifully delineated. In many vintages, the Roncaglie is quite showy. That is hardly the case in 2020, a vintage in which the wine is classically austere and in need of time. Super-classic." Vinous
"Very perfumed and pretty with sliced strawberries and citrus blossom. Plenty of forest berries, too. Medium to full body. Creamy tannins and a fresh finish. Fine texture and gorgeous." James Suckling

Barolo Riserva DOCG 2016
Viettis Barolo Riserva with grapes from Castiglione Falletto is matured for two years in large wooden barrels, then in steel tanks and then for several years in the bottle. Classic bouquet of wild berries, cherries and rose petals. Rusty minerals are accompanied by violets and candied orange peel. Juicy on the palate and extremely fresh and agile for its age, with wonderful balance and equilibrium. An inspiring wine that still has many good years ahead of it, but is already completely convincing today. SUPERIORE.DE
"Still showing primary fruit flavors of cherry and black currant, this red is also well-structured and sleek, with lively acidity and a dense matrix of tannins. Mineral, rose hip and underbrush accents complete the picture. This still needs time." Wine Spectator
"Spicy, complex and very structured. Spicy sour berries, cranberries and ashy minerals with ripe stems, rosehips and hints of tar, liquorice, balsamic and blood orange. On the palate, it is very powerful and broad-shouldered. But if you let it breathe, this Barolo will certainly become a little more airy and perfumed." James Suckling
"This wine is a masterpiece that demonstrates the exceptional potential of the vintage and the skill of this legendary producer. The wine opens with a seductive bouquet of preserved cherries in spirits, complemented by a medley of sweet and savoury spices. Candied liquorice adds depth and complexity to the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is firm and densely packed with dark fruit, revealing its true power and structure. It's built for the long haul, with the potential to develop over decades, a real powerhouse." Wine Enthusiast

Limitation of 2 articles per customerBarolo Ravera DOCG 2015
Viettis Ravera is one of the great stars of Piedmont in its precision and structure. Rose petals, chalk, pepper and a hint of pomegranate make this Barolo one of the most sought-after appellations every year. With a little storage maturity, the strong tannins give way to an elegant appearance that does not deviate one millimetre from the coveted style of this large site. A monument to Barolo, which apart from Vietti and Giacosa, only a few other Piedmontese winegrowers bring into the bottle with such consistency! SUPERIORE.DE
"This red is full of sweet ripe plum, cherry and tar flavors, accented by tobacco and underbrush notes. Thick, dusty tannins coat the gums and put a clamp on the finish for now, but this shows potential." Wine Spectator
"The beautifully fragrant roses are impossible to resist. This oozes charm. Also, there are red cherries, cocoa powder and an array of wild herbs in the mix. The palate has toned yet muscular tannins that build nicely to deliver a concentrated core of ripe red-cherry flavor that holds long, fresh and youthful. Great Barolo." James Suckling
"The 2015 Barolo Ravera is once again the head of the class at Vietti. Bright, sculpted and wonderfully nuanced, the Ravera is very pretty. Floral aromatics and the pointed, brilliant fruit that is such a Ravera signature are very much in evidence. Hints of blood orange, mint, crushed rocks and flowers add shades of complexity as the 2015 gradually opens up in the glass. This is one of the finer wines of the year. Don't miss it!" Vinous
"Starting off a bit shy and closed at first, the 2015 Barolo Ravera showed noticeably better in the sample that had been opened a few hours prior to my arrival at the winery for my annual visit. This makes perfect sense as Vietti’s wines are intentionally slow at first but are built to endure the long haul. From the Novello township, this vineyard site is recognized for it power, structure and the uniquely broad approach it shows to the palate. There is a larger span of black fruit at its core. The positioning of the Ravera cru means it is open to the elements and the cold air from the Alps, and the wines result in freshness and mineral character as well. Luca Currado describes a salty, anchovy-like aroma that does indeed appear. Otherwise, this wine shows tightly polished and glossy tannins." Wine Advocate

The Vietti winery is located in the historic centre of the picturesque wine village of Castiglione Falletto in the middle of the impressive hilly landscape of Barolo. Since the end of the 19th century, this traditional company, which was founded by Carlo Vietti, has been producing exceptional wines. Today, Vietti is owned by the Krause family (USA), who already own the Barolo winery Enrico Serafino.
Location? Exclusive & rare!
Vietti is probably the only producer in the Langhe to boast the best vineyards, such as Rocche and Villero, Brunate and Lazzarito. The vineyards were acquired by Alfredo Currado in the 1960s. As one of the first Piedmontese Oenologist, the winemaker, who died in 2010, began producing single-vineyard wines in precisely those areas where tradition almost always prescribed Barolo and Barbaresco cuvées.
Continuous creation with a view to the future.
After four generations of the family had already produced wine, Alfredo Currado joined the company in 1960 and the winery's real triumph began with him. The traditional methods of winemaking were combined with the use of modern technology, intelligent work in the vineyard and, above all, a rigorous selection of grapes. With intuition and foresight – from the production of one of the first Barolo Cru wines, Rocche di Castiglione in 1961, to the decision to be the first winery in Piedmont to produce a single-varietal Arneis as early as 1967 – Vietti's successful path into the future was paved.
Qualitative growth continued in 2016 with the sale of Vietti to the Krause family (USA). Some of the best cru sites in the Barolo and Barbaresco regions were acquired, opening up promising prospects for the future. In addition, vineyards were acquired in the Colli Tortonesi to produce wines from the Timorasso grape variety. Oenologist Eugenio Palumbo, who has been working for Vietti for over two decades, is still responsible for winemaking.
Among the grape varieties, it is not only Nebbiolo that stands out for the Barolos made from a balanced blend of old and new styles. The Barbera vines, which are also planted in the best locations and are just as long-lived, are also regularly found among the house's best wines. Whether "La Crena", "Tre Vigne", "Scarrone" or "Vigna Vecchia Scarrone" – in addition to the great Barolo wines, Vietti's Barberas also set standards in their respective price categories. But Dolcetto and the white varieties Arneis and Moscato do not lag behind the high standards of the wine world either. Incidentally, it is not least thanks to Vietti that the now famous white grape Arneis enjoys its current reputation and will certainly not be forgotten.
Safely into the next era.
The winery will continue to be run in the spirit of the long family tradition. Appreciation and focus on the terroir and careful, handcrafted work in the vineyard and cellar will take centre stage. The traditional methods of winemaking have been combined with the use of modern technology, intelligent work in the vineyard and, above all, a rigorous selection of grapes. This meticulous work results in exceptionally characterful, fruity wines with a firm body and great finesse. Every Vietti wine is the result of craftsmanship, a deep understanding and a conscientious interpretation of the individual vineyard. SUPERIORE.DE
