“Limizzani” Vermentino di Gallura DOCG 2024
Compared to Branu, Limizzani is somewhat lighter and more summery, but also shows the classic Gallura character from north-east Sardinia. Straw yellow in colour with light greenish reflections, the bouquet is fresh and balanced with a fine herbal note. Finely spiced and yellow-fruity on the palate, with a good finish and lovely acid wire, interesting final with traces of grapefruit and bitter almond. SUPERIORE.DE

“Gjola” Caricagiola Rosato Colli di Limbara IGT 2024
Caricagiola is a red grape variety that is mainly cultivated in Sardinia and Corsica. It is particularly widespread in the Sardinian region of Gallura, where it thrives in the region's unique climate and soil conditions. However, its close resemblance to the black Vermentino Nero grape suggests that it could also originate from Liguria. Another theory about its origin links it to the southern Portuguese grape variety Mourvèdre Nero or Bonvendro, which was once considered a special biotype of the Mourvèdre common in southern France and Spain.
Beautifully floral bouquet with notes of lilies, peaches and pink grapefruit, the tart astringency of the grapefruit provides a savoury depth. Strawberries join the peaches on the palate before the grapefruit element reappears and provides a sudden citrus kick. A fantastic rosato with a lively freshness and fine juiciness, underpinned by a subtle spicy note on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE

“Branu” Vermentino di Gallura DOCG 2024
A Vermentino di Gallura with a strong personality from the DOCG of the same name, which is located in Sardinia between the provinces of Sassari and Nuoro. A complex, soft white wine with an aroma of tropical fruits that is unrivalled in its price range. Fresh on the palate, with a fine minerality and good persistence. A hint of tension lingers on the finish, reminiscent of sour citrus fruits and rosemary. Branu is full of energy and crisp Vermentino fruit. SUPERIORE.DE

“Sincaru” Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2022
Dark ruby red colour. Dense bouquet of blackcurrant flavours, cocoa and a floral note of mild herbs. Full-bodied and fruity on the palate. The well-balanced components make the wine appear like velvet and silk. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sweetly enticing, the 2022 Cannonau di Sardegna Sincaru opens with a seductive blend of blueberries, cream, cola and violet pastille. It’s soft and enveloping with juicy acidity contrasted with tart red and blue fruits. This finishes crunchy in feel, leaving a coating of tarry blackberry to mingle with silty tannins through the long and lightly structured finale." Vinous

“Pentima” Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva DOC 2021
The magnificent and powerful Pentima Riserva (formerly Sincaru Riserva) exudes the aroma of ripe blackberry, juicy plum and dark cherry, with a hint of truffle flavour and a fine herbal note. Lush and full-bodied on the palate with silky tannins and a long, deep final. SUPERIORE.DE
"The nose is primarily peppery and earthy, but also has a floral, candied element, of sugar plums and rose petals. The palate brings high-toned red-fruit notes, of cherries and plums, while that floral quality endures even in the face of firm, dense tannins." Wine Enthusiast

Vigne Surrau is a young winery with respect for tradition. Which sounds a little confusing, but it says it all. On the one hand the modern, architecturally remarkable cellar buildings, which blend harmoniously into the landscape, on the other hand the traditional grape varieties and the preservation of terroir and origin. In the north-eastern part of Sardinia, near Porto Cervo, high above the popular bays of the Costa Smeralda, the granite formations of the Gallura formed a bizarre landscape. Tough to work with, but extremely mineral. The heat of the day is opposed by the steady 'pulito vento maestrale' – the wind, which aerates the vineyards with a cooling sea breeze – and thus creates a unique micro-climate zone, which with its strong temperature differences between day and night makes this wonderful fruit in the grapes possible.
The Demuro brothers recognised the potential of this unique landscape and founded the winery in 2004. The more than 50 hectares of vineyards are crossed by two rivers, which provide additional cooling and ventilation. Traditionally, they have used classic varieties that have been native to Sardinia for centuries and are therefore considered autochthonous, first and foremost the white Vermentino di Gallura, a variety of Vermentino that feels particularly at home in coastal regions. This grape variety, grown from old vines, is cultivated here in three versions, which have repeatedly been awarded prizes in the most important Italian guides. Tre Bicchieri at Gambero Rosso, Grande Vino at Slow Food and the coveted crown at Vinibuoni d'Italia.
The red wines also come from old grape varieties such as Cannonau di Sardegna, Carignano and Muristello, also called Bovale Sardo. They are aged as pure varieties or filled as cuvée. The grapes are only harvested at night when the temperatures are cool enough. After strict selection, the type of fermentation and storage used is decided. Steel tanks, new cement tanks, French oak barriques or large Slavonian wooden barrels. The traditional varieties are available in all modern and classical cultivation methods, so Vigne Surrau more than lives up to its credo. SUPERIORE.DE
