Wines from Sicily

The Sallier de la Tour winery has been owned by the Counts Tasca since 2009, making it the fifth winery that complements and characterises the diversity and professionalism of what is probably Sicily's most famous winery. Sallier de la Tour specialises in the Grillo, Inzolia, Syrah and Nero d'Avola grape varieties.

This Fine is made from white grapes and was aged for one year in wooden barrels. It is elegant with a beautiful bouquet and a fine medium sweetness. The classic among Sicilian red wines - lively and fresh like the sunny island it comes from. It has a bright ruby red colour in the glass and pampers the nose with a beautifully fruity, deep bouquet of blackberries and cherries. A distinct blackcurrant flavour and almost sweetish fruit on the tongue, followed by a powerful fruity body with silky tannins on the palate. A well-balanced Nero d'Avola that is a pleasure to drink. The Nero d'Avola grapes come from vines up to 30 years old in the Noto region. Animating, delicately fruity notes of peach, pineapple and raspberry. Round, full and wonderfully drinky on the palate, with beautiful, medium-ripe fruit, flavour and a cool, fresh and salty final. SUPERIORE.DE

The name of this powerful, aromatic white wine comes from the Arabic, which means "lush garden on a ventilated plateau". Strong straw yellow colour with light green inclusions. Violets, elderflower, orange peel and apricot on the nose. On the palate, the fragrance merges with a full potpourri of notes of apricot, pineapple and almonds. Light amber. The more than 2 years maturing in oak barrels makes this Marsala very balanced, in the bouquet the typical Marsala aromas are rounded off by a fine oak spice. On the palate rather moderately dry with an enveloping aroma of black cherry and a fine nutty note. The classic for dessert. SUPERIORE.DE

The fermentation of this fine Marsala is interrupted by the enrichment with brandy aged for at least 5 years in oak barrels. Intense ruby red. Very fruity bouquet of black cherry, pomegranate and plum. In the long, full taste sweet with present red fruit, cherry and again pomegranate. SUPERIORE.DE

The "white queen of Navarre" gave her name to this wine. The grapes come from Alcamo from clayey vineyards at an altitude of 350 metres. Pale yellow to straw yellow colour. Anthilia - a fruity white individualist from Ansonica and Catarratto, round and very fine. The bouquet has aromas of yellow peaches, plums and hints of flowers from the Mediterranean scrub. Bianco di Morgante is a pure Nero d'Avola. However, the typical Sicilian red grape was vinified without contact with the skins, resulting in this very successful and exceptionally finesse-rich white wine.
