“Vigna Oberkerschbaum” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2021
In South Tyrol, the "Vigna" classification guarantees the origin of a single-vineyard wine. This Sauvignon is a selection of the best grapes from the Oberkerschbaum estate in Buchholz/Salorno at an altitude of around 800 metres. Thanks to the special microclimate, the ideal orientation and the challenging altitude, the Oberkerschbaum estate is one of the most exciting cru sites for South Tyrolean Sauvignon.
Intense straw yellow colour with delicate greenish reflections. Aromas of ripe citrus fruits, grapefruit and bergamot mingle with delicate scents of flint and nettle. This fruitiness continues on the palate - Oberkerschbaum is a Sauvignon of harmonious complexity which, despite its racy acidity, never seems too lean and completely convinces us with its aromatic length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Wildly unique, the 2021 Sauvignon Vigna Oberkerschbaum opens with a beguiling blend of rosemary, split pine and grapefruit zests, giving way to green melon. This is lifted and graceful, gliding across the palate with a saline-tinged blend of tart orchard fruits. A savory herbal thrust adds complexity toward the close. Mineral intense, this leaves the senses completely refreshed, finishing with medium length yet impactful. The Oberkerschbaum hails from a vineyard between 740 and 800 meters, and its high elevation comes through in spades." Vinous

“Mazon” Pinot Nero Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2021
The dark, ruby red colour alone gives an idea of the enormous concentration of this Pinot Nero Riserva. The complex aroma with the multi-faceted flavours of a classic Burgundy is fascinating. “Vigna Kolbenhof” Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC 2021 · MAGNUM in OWC
Intoxicating flavours of yellow fruits, pineapple, nutmeg and the faint memory of clove. An almost magical, bright sweetness on the palate, very complex and long. A great and extremely exciting Gewürztraminer from the registered single vineyard Vigna Kolbenhof. SUPERIORE.DE
"This fragrant version shows notes of rose petals and chai tea spices and is nicely cut by a strong acidity. It offers a broad mix of pink grapefruit granita, candied papaya, honeycomb and grated ginger, underscored by a hint of smoky minerality on the long, savoury finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Gewurztraminer Vigna Kolbenhof blossoms with a rich blend of wildflowers, peaches and wet stone. This opens with a lovely inner sweetness perfectly contrasted by brilliant acidity as perfumed white pit fruits and minty herbal tones swirl throughout. The 2021 leaves the palate completely refreshed, leaving a salty flourish and hints of tropical citrus. It’s stunning today, yet it has the balance for a long evolution." Vinous

“Vigna Rechenthaler Schlossleiten” Gewürztraminer Spätlese Alto Adige DOC 2015 dolce · in OWC
Adjacent to the Kolbenhof there is an extremely steep vineyard, "Leiten" in South Tyrol, which is more south-facing. It descends into the deep gorge of the Hell Valley and is exposed to a very special microclimate. Thanks to the persistent coolness, the grapes ripen slowly and are harvested by hand only in November. They are then overripe and particularly tasty - ideal for the Gewürztraminer Spätlese Rechtenthaler Schloßleiten.
Opulent fruit aromas such as highly ripe apricots, Williams pear, blossom honey, acacia. In the glass, it presents itself with a highly concentrated aroma and acidity, expansive and dense. The fruit sweetness remains opulent and elegant on the palate for a long time. SUPERIORE.DE

“Vigna Pirchschrait” Konrad Oberhofer Gewürztraminer Rarità Alto Adige DOC 2008 · 0,75l in OWC
This dry Gewürztraminer from the Pirchschrait single vineyard at Kolbenhof is a tribute to Konrad Oberhofer, who was the first to vinify the grapes from individual vineyards separately in the 1930s. Martin Foradori Hofstätter's grandfather was a pioneer of vineyard thinking. His goal was to make the special character of each site tangible in the wine.
After ten years of maturation on the fine yeast in 500-litre barrels, the Gewürztraminer develops a dense texture without losing freshness. The fine yeast also gives it a charming aroma of toasted bread, medlars, blossom honey and dried fruits. In contrast, the already low fruit sweetness recedes discreetly in the years of ageing, while the minerality gains in expression. In the glass, the top-quality Pirchschrait impresses with a subtle interplay of flavours. SUPERIORE.DE

“Roccolo” Ludwig Barth von Barthenau Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC 2017 · 0,75l in OWC
At the end of the 19th century, Ludwig Barth, a university professor with a love of wine, built the estate of the same name in Mazon and planted the Pinot Noir grape there for the first time, with success, as it turned out. The year 2016 was very good for Pinot Noir and for the Roccolo vineyard at Ansitz Barthenau on the Mazon plateau. Particularly rich grapes from vines that are more than 70 years old and tend to grow on the traditional pergola were to be reserved for a new top wine. They were harvested separately, pressed separately and matured in small oak barrels and are only made into the single-vineyard wine "Roccolo" in the best vintages.
It convinces with its smooth, filigree acid structure, the backbone of every Burgundy. Martin Foradori's "Burgundy instinct" had pointed him in the right direction; working late into the evening had paid off. A top-class Pinot Noir now enriches the estate's Pinot Noir range - from the outstanding site of the Mazon plateau. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2017 Pinot Nero Vigna Roccolo takes its time opening in the glass, at first blowing off some youthful reduction, then delivering a gorgeous mix of dried strawberries and roses in an air of crushed stone. The textures are unreal, silky and soothing, yet deep, ushering in masses of ripe red berries and sweet spices. This leaves a saturation of primary concentration while tapering off with grippy tannins, yet still, it’s remarkably fresh. The warmth of the vintage has imparted this with a powerful boost of intensity, but I’m loving it. The 2017 succeeds through its lively acidity. " Vinous

"The 2016 Pinot Nero Vigna Roccolo is understated and coy in the glass, as dusty rose and dried cherries are complemented by nuances of clove. This is elegant and polished in feel, with a wonderful balance of acids and minerals that frame its dark red fruits and inner spices quite nicely. There's a power that lurks beneath the surface, as notes of licorice and fine tannins linger incredibly long. This is a Pinot for the cellar and has the balance to go a decade or more." Vinous
