“Miché" Rosato Metodo Ancestrale Frizzante s.a. secco
A rosé made from Sangiovese according to the classic Pet-Nat method, harvested in the last half of August and whose carbonic acid is created unplanned by the almost complete fermentation of the sugar in the bottle. “Scalabrone” Rosato Bolgheri DOC 2023
Scalabrone presents itself generously every year, but also incredibly fresh. It shows ripe strawberries with a hint of sweet cream, tropical kiwi and lime. It washes over the palate with lightness, carrying ripe red fruit, a hint of melon and a savoury minerality. The finish is long and flanked by lively acidity and salty minerals. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah is perfectly balanced and makes this flavoursome rosato one of the most vibrant in the appellation every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark sparkling pink. Opens invitingly to raspberries and juicy sour cherries, underpinned by the scent of violets. Very fresh on the palate, dense fruit core, compact and juicy through to the medium-long finish." Falstaff
"Before the advent of the famed reds of the area, the first officially established DOCs in Bolgheri were based on white and rosé wines, and Antinori's 'Scalabrone' was one of the first wines to be bottled under the DOC Bolgheri Rosato. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a tiny portion of Syrah produce a delightful rosé with a Mediterranean touch. Bright pink at the core with a pale reflection, lovely bouquet of cherries and wild berries with a rose petal hint, then a fruity palate with lively acidity and a pleasant finish." Decanter
"The 2023 Rosato Scalabrone from Bolgheri shines almost neon pink in the glass. The seriousness of the aromas and flavours belies the cheerful colour - it is multi-layered and complex. Blood orange, paprika, bergamot, stemmed herbs, forest floor and a hint of earthiness lend it many nuances. The tangy, electric acidity immediately flows over the palate and gives it brightness and vigour. The finish is long and clean, culminating in a hint of sweet red cherry and a welcome touch of ripeness. This wine is suitable both as an aperitif and for dinner." Vinous

“Solosole” Vermentino Bolgheri DOC 2023
Solosole is a West Tuscan Vermentino in its purest form and shines with a rich, full-bodied flavour as well as a beautiful spiciness and acidity. Candied lime, ginger, passion fruit and crushed rocks are beautifully emphasised in this crisp, exotic Vermentino. The unusual flavour profile makes Solosole a delicious and serious white wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with dinner. One of our absolute favourites. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with a sparkling centre. Crisp fruit on the nose of nectarine and grapefruit, with light mineral notes on the finish. Taut on the palate, with plenty of tension, very present, compact fruit core, also slightly full-bodied." Falstaff
"Honeysuckle and lemon verbena on the nose, followed by apricot, pineapple and Meyer lemon, the acidity pulsates like an electric current. The fine-grained texture winds around and through the penetrating purity of the fruit, giving the wine an astonishing length. And then there is a silky finish that tingles with heather, thyme and white pepper. An infinitely superior Vermentino." Jancis Robinson
"Fresh and characterful Vermentino, with notes of apples, white peaches, raw almonds and peach pits. Lots of flowers too. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and structured with good volume and delicious fruit. Dry, juicy and mineral with a lingering finish. A hint of liquorice." James Suckling

Bolgheri Rosso DOC 2022
Classic Bolgheri Rosso with a strong bouquet of raspberries and redcurrants, cassis and a little tobacco. Juicy, full-bodied flavour, beautiful tannins and good acidity. A wonderful introduction to the great world of Le Macchiole wines. SUPERIORE.DE
"Always a reliable blend that smells of cassis, dark nougat and mushrooms; polished in the mouth, ripe acidity, the tannins well integrated, long and fresh-fruity finish." Vinum
"Brilliant ruby violet colour. Slightly ethereal nose with fruity notes, light smoke paired with spice. Balanced on the palate with structured tannins, the finish is long with great juiciness." Falstaff
"The 2022 Bolgheri Rosso is a soft, uncomplicated red wine that can be drunk now and over the next few years. Sweet red cherry fruit, pipe tobacco, cedar and spice open up nicely and add a lot of charm to this medium-bodied Rosso. Soft contours complete the whole with style." Vinous
"A ripe, juicy version with crisp flavours of cherries, blackberries and spice. This wine is rather tannic, with a delicious, moderately long finish." Wine Spectator
"This wine is really polished and smooth, with ultra-fine tannins that run the length of the wine. It has a medium body, a creamy texture and a long and expressive finish with red fruits, stones and thyme." James Suckling
"The nose opens with sweet, lush layers of blackberry, blueberry and dark chocolate before a riot of herbs, pepper and warm, ferruginous earth take over. The palate is structured and full-bodied, even as the juicy berries burst forth and flood the mouth. It's a rare treat to get a wine like this at this price." Wine Enthusiast

“Il Seggio” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2021
Intense ruby red colour. Fresh and crisp fruit, blackberry, spices and mineral notes on the full bouquet. Full and dense on the palate with beautiful primary notes of red berries. The tannins are elegant, silky and warmly enveloping and flank this pretty red in a precise and clean finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep dark, almost impenetrable ruby red colour. Intense nose of preserved blackberry, milk chocolate and oak. Polished on the palate with a savoury fruit component, slightly spicy and powerful through to the juicy final." Falstaff
"Ripe blackberry and mulberry fruit on the nose with a hint of wine gum. Ripe black fruit threaded with chewy herbal, eucalyptus bitterness. Plenty of anxious astringency in the thicket of tannins, although they can't quite contain the juicy voluptuousness of the fruit." Jancis Robinson
"The Poggio al Tesoro 2021 Bolgheri Rosso Il Seggio opens with a dark, inky colour and aromas reminiscent of slate, pencil shavings, curry leaves, sweet blackberries and purple fruit. The wine is broad and rich with a soft intensity." Wine Advocate
"Bright and rich, with flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry, cedar and tobacco, this red wine is also elegant. A firmly built version that shows fine balance and refined tannins on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"A very concentrated red wine with blackcurrant, a hint of dark tobacco and bark. Orange peel. Medium to full body. Juicy and multi-layered with a freshness and finesse. Beautiful length." James Suckling

“SOF” Rosato Toscana IGT 2023
This delicate, luxury Tuscan rosato has a pale pink colour with light amber reflections. The wine smells of sweet fruits such as wild raspberries and fragolina di bosco, followed by bitter almond and dried sage. Grandiose wines of world renown.
Once upon a time there was a sleepy village in the Maremma, high above the sea only ten kilometres away as the crow flies. There the family of the wife of the young Marchese Mario Incisa della Rochetta owned a small piece of stony land. Already as a student of agriculture in Pisa, the Marchese dreamed of producing a noble wine like the famous Bordeaux estates. After all, his grandfather had already written books about the most important grape varieties.
Shortly after the Second World War he tried Cabernet Sauvignon on the rocky hill below Castiglioncello Castle. Outside of all then recognized wine-growing areas. 1948 was the year, the first wine was ready. Nothing was sold. Also the next years up to the 1960s the wine was drunk only itself. Always put some boxes away - in order to taste later how it would develop. And the Marchese found that he developed splendidly. So in 1965 two more vineyards were planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Son Nicolò and nephew Piero Antinori finally persuaded the Marchese to market the wine. The rest is legend. In 1968 the first Sassicaia, named after the stony ground (Sassi = stones) came onto the market. The Cabernet Sauvignon with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc caused a sensation in Italy and soon received international awards. The Sassicaia became a cult by 1985 at the latest. The success was partly the fault of oenologist legend Giacomo Tachis, who had already blown the boundaries of Chianti Classico for the Antinori family with the Tignanello and who now also advised Marchese Incisa della Rochetta.
The Supertuscans were born.
Because of course it was over with the calm in this small place. After also Lodovico Antinori, the younger brother of family boss Piero here 1981 the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, all the famous Italian wine producers wanted a vineyard here. In no time excavators dug up whole hills and the land prices exploded. But - these wines did not fit into any DOC rules. So they labelled it Vino da Tavola - table wine. An English-speaking wine critic turned it into "supertuscans". The international success was gigantic. This pleased the Italian Minister of Agriculture Goria, but that Vino da Tavola stood on the best Italian wines left him no peace. This is how the IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) category was created, which made it possible to market such wines with controlled origins.
In 1994 Bolgheri was promoted to DOC and the Tenuta San Guido, as the winery is actually called, was the first - and still only - winery to receive its own DOC Bolgheri-Sassicaia in 2013.
In the meantime there are many great wines from different producers. Argentiera, Ca' Marcanda (Angelo Gaja), Grattamacco, Guado al Tasso (Antinori), Kappa, Le Macchiole, Michele Satta, Poggio al Tesoro or Tenuta di Biserno are just a few of the names that can be heard alongside the top stags Sassicaia and Ornellaia, the latter belonging to Frescobaldi since 2005.
The almost 200 hectares at the beginning of the 2000s have now grown to more than 1,200, and this has become approx. 4.8 million litres of top-quality wine. Even if the big investment boom has finally subsided again, the Supertuscans from Bolgheri remain audience favourites. You don't treat yourself to anything else. SUPERIORE.DE
