"Pale golden pink. Bursting at the seams with juicy tangerine, watermelon, salty grapefruit, crisp nectarine and bursting with energy and fresh fruit. Beautiful long backbone of cold chalk. Great structure. Really, really good. Super-appetising." Jancis Robinson
"Refreshing, red-fruited character with notes of raspberries, nectarines and a hint of cherry blossom. Medium-bodied, crisp and crunchy with good length and intensity. Well made and focused." James Suckling

“Mediterra” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021
Mediterra with its inviting aromas of paprika, redcurrant, elderberry, sage and black pepper is round and harmonious on the palate with beautiful fruit and spice. With its well-proportioned tannins and well-balanced acidity, Mediterra is a perfect accompaniment to food. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, dark ruby red colour. Aromas of dark plum, blueberries and black pepper on the nose. Soft and mouth-filling on the palate, with a noticeable woody note, slightly drying tannins, juicy fruit flavours and a hint of bitter almond." Falstaff
"This red is signaled by intense aromas of wild blackberry, black pepper, black olive and eucalyptus. Showing earth and underbrush accents that augment the fruity flavors, this firms up on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Mediterra is bright, effusive and wonderfully inviting. Crushed flowers, herbs, tobacco, spice and leather meld into a core of juicy dark blue/purplish fruit. The Mediterra offers all of the immediacy of Bolgheri but with tons of freshness more than opulence. It is a hugely appealing style, especially at this level, where wines are typically intended to be drunk essentially on release." Vinous
"Dark chocolate, toasted walnuts, mocha and ripe dark berries on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied and structured with firm but very fine tannins. Shows notes of toasted cedar and bitter spices yet very delicate with integration and balance. Smooth and polished finish." James Suckling

“Solosole” Vermentino Bolgheri DOC 2023
Solosole is a West Tuscan Vermentino in its purest form and shines with a rich, full-bodied flavour as well as a beautiful spiciness and acidity. Candied lime, ginger, passion fruit and crushed rocks are beautifully emphasised in this crisp, exotic Vermentino. The unusual flavour profile makes Solosole a delicious and serious white wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with dinner. One of our absolute favourites. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with a sparkling centre. Crisp fruit on the nose of nectarine and grapefruit, with light mineral notes on the finish. Taut on the palate, with plenty of tension, very present, compact fruit core, also slightly full-bodied." Falstaff
"Honeysuckle and lemon verbena on the nose, followed by apricot, pineapple and Meyer lemon, the acidity pulsates like an electric current. The fine-grained texture winds around and through the penetrating purity of the fruit, giving the wine an astonishing length. And then there is a silky finish that tingles with heather, thyme and white pepper. An infinitely superior Vermentino." Jancis Robinson
"Fresh and characterful Vermentino, with notes of apples, white peaches, raw almonds and peach pits. Lots of flowers too. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and structured with good volume and delicious fruit. Dry, juicy and mineral with a lingering finish. A hint of liquorice." James Suckling

“Il Seggio” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2021
Intense ruby red colour. Fresh and crisp fruit, blackberry, spices and mineral notes on the full bouquet. Full and dense on the palate with beautiful primary notes of red berries. The tannins are elegant, silky and warmly enveloping and flank this pretty red in a precise and clean finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep dark, almost impenetrable ruby red colour. Intense nose of preserved blackberry, milk chocolate and oak. Polished on the palate with a savoury fruit component, slightly spicy and powerful through to the juicy final." Falstaff
"Ripe blackberry and mulberry fruit on the nose with a hint of wine gum. Ripe black fruit threaded with chewy herbal, eucalyptus bitterness. Plenty of anxious astringency in the thicket of tannins, although they can't quite contain the juicy voluptuousness of the fruit." Jancis Robinson
"The Poggio al Tesoro 2021 Bolgheri Rosso Il Seggio opens with a dark, inky colour and aromas reminiscent of slate, pencil shavings, curry leaves, sweet blackberries and purple fruit. The wine is broad and rich with a soft intensity." Wine Advocate
"Bright and rich, with flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry, cedar and tobacco, this red wine is also elegant. A firmly built version that shows fine balance and refined tannins on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"A very concentrated red wine with blackcurrant, a hint of dark tobacco and bark. Orange peel. Medium to full body. Juicy and multi-layered with a freshness and finesse. Beautiful length." James Suckling

“Cassiopea Pagus Cerbaia” Rosato Bolgheri DOC 2018
Pagus Cerbaia is the name of a first-class small plot of land with sedimentary soils. This is where the small quantities of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon come from, 50% of which is fermented in amphorae and 50% in oak barrels after the harvest. The "Selection Rosato", which is only bottled in a few hundred bottles, has an intense floral aroma and captivates the palate in a lively and cheerful way with a lingering spicy note and a wonderfully complex finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright copper colour with a sparkling core. Aromas of orange peel, ginger, honey and dried figs on the nose. Soft on the palate, expansive, carried by striking acidity, right through to the lingering finish." Falstaff
"This is complex and layered with dried strawberry bush, pastry crust, dried flowers and caramel. Medium-bodied, textural and polished with a gentle phenolic edge to it and chalky minerality." James Suckling
"Youthful, creamy aromas of red fruits open up to wonderfully ripe notes of peach, dried apricots, honey and cream, as well as hints of oak with nutmeg and cloves. Perhaps the proximity to the sea contributes to the salty, mineral notes that combine with the oak structure. The oak adds a subtle spice, the ripe fruit adds weight, the fresh acidity is perfectly balanced and gives the wine outstanding length without shouting." Decanter

“Solosole Pagus Camilla” Bianco Bolgheri DOC 2018
Pagus Camilla comes from a small parcel called "Camilla" near the Sondraia vineyards. Here, the Vermentino and Petit Manseng grapes experience greater concentration and complexity during the ripening process. This "project wine", produced in very small quantities, is a unique example of the potential for white wines from Bolgheri. Pure, deep and beautiful, citrus flavours, salt, minerality and with full, creamy fruit, balanced, long and with very good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense, sparkling lemon yellow colour. Elegant on the nose, with fine woody spice, ripe yellow fruit and a slightly buttery finish. Expansive on the palate, with a strong presence, fine fruit flavour and pronounced length." Falstaff
"This has a perfumed and complex nose of grapefruits, star fruit, rosemary, white pepper, nutmeg, peaches, dried flowers and cumin. It’s medium- to full-bodied with an oily texture. Layers of tropical fruit and spice, all held together by a zesty freshness. Fantastic Vermentino." James Suckling

Captivating structure and precision on the palate, with a juicy texture that shows off the crisp, layered fruit to good effect. “Sondraia” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2019
Sondraie, from which the wine takes its name, is a large plateau from Aurelia to Bellaria in the north of the appellation and one of the best sites for Cabernet in Bolgheri. The Oenologist Luca d'Attoma is considered one of the best interpreters of Cabernet Franc in Italy and his wines are always a clear buy. Bright violet colour. The nose is leafy, with dark chocolate and a characteristic aroma of coffee powder, plus blueberry, raspberry, black cherry and undergrowth. On the palate, melted cloves and cassis in perfect balance. Smooth and ripe, with a hint of chalk thanks to the oak tannins on the finish. Amazingly fresh and endlessly long, simply superb! SUPERIORE.DE
"Offers a potpourri of notes of blueberries, chocolate, leather and herbs; the attack is pithy, the tannins robust, ripe acidity, finishes superbly on notes of Mediterranean scrub, blackberries and chocolate." Vinum
"Intense, full garnet ruby colour. Complex on the nose with aromas of tar, dark chocolate, compact oak and lots of dark fruit. Polished and elegant on the palate, precise in the fruit, striking freshness, with young but very fine-grained tannins, still needs some time, but with plenty of ageing potential." Falstaff
"Powerful and firm tannins that set the stage for blackberries, blackcurrants, coffee, iron and a hint of dark chocolate. Smooth and balanced, with a dusty, bitter cocoa finish." Wine Spectator
"The Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia 2019 is a powerful, rather sombre wine. In this tasting, the 2019 stands out due to its extracted style and stronger oak character, which do not allow the wine to show its best side. Notes of dark red fruits, spices, tobacco, espresso and torrefaction unfold in the glass. All in all, this is a very good wine." Vinous
"Aromas of fresh herbs such as parsley and nettles, blackcurrants. Pure and concentrated. Full-bodied with beautiful polished tannins that are tailored and concentrated. Delicious finish. Beautiful balance and delicious for a young wine." James Suckling
"A fleshy, savoury bouquet gets its freshness from herbal and stony undertones, while a hint of salt and pepper adds pep. The palate becomes sweeter, with black cherries and chocolate, but retains the salt and pepper backbone. The tannins are tightly wrapped around a strong acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"Although the price has risen sharply due to demand, Sondraia is still one of the best wines in Bolgheri. This 2019 is extremely youthful, with estery notes on the nose, enhanced by restrained but layered and concentrated blackberry fruit, as well as menthol and chocolate in the depths. The attack is fleshy and firm rather than supple. Full-bodied, with angular tannins and firm acidity." Decanter
"The Poggio al Tesoro 2019 Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia makes excellent use of oak ageing, resulting in soft tannins, sumptuous richness and attractive concentration. The wine is very well made overall, with plenty of black fruit balanced by spices and tobacco. Its important structure suggests a long ageing period." Wine Advocate

This Dry Berry Selection (Trockenbeerenauslese) from Petit Manseng is a rarity in a very small edition of not even 1,000 bottles. The overripe, dried grapes are harvested only at the end of November/beginning of December and pressed into this very fine and highly elegant passito. Strong golden yellow, rich bouquet with aromas of pickled fruits such as apricots and mild spices, on the palate a rich, fully ripe fruit with pleasant sweetness and harmonious, citrusy acidity. “Dedicato a Walter” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2019
Marilisa and Franco Allegrini dedicated this single-varietal Cabernet Franc from their own vineyards on Via Bolgherese to their eldest brother Walter, who passed away in 2003. The 2015 vintage marked the beginning of an even more radical focus on the terroir and the quality of the grapes. Since then, a third fewer bottles have been filled each year, resulting in a Bolgheri Superiore from the estate's own grapes from the Bolgheri core zone that is hard to beat in terms of elegance and character. Compact and elegant Cabernet Franc with a fine tobacco note, ripe blackcurrant flavours, some pepper and eucalyptus, plus slightly earthy tones. Dense fruit and polished tannins on the palate, clear, rich final. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Poggio al Tesoro 2019 Bolgheri Superiore Dedicato A Walter has oak-accented flavours of popcorn and caramel on toasted nuts, dried fruit, baked plums and baking chocolate. There's a lot going on in the mouthfeel and on the palate. These oak-accented tones are very pleasing given the richness and texture that this wine handles so well." Wine Advocate
"Lavender and toasty oak aromas lead off, with flavors of black currant, blackberry, iron and leafy bell pepper. This red is lithe and complex, driven by vibrant acidity, with fine harmony, varietal expression and length." Wine Spectator
"The Bolgheri Superiore Dedicato a Walter 2019 is great. Here, the extracted style works well to bring out the essence of the Cabernet Franc. Dark fruit, leather, smoke, chocolate, tobacco and cloves give the 2019 an impressive depth. Although it is very intense, the 2019 is by no means over the top. It offers great depth and intensity, with all elements very well balanced." Vinous
"The nose is a light lunch on a rocky beach, where the dusty stones contrast with the spiciness of bresaola and the richness of the sweet chilli jam. The jam spreads across the palate, but the meatiness isn't lost either, before a crackle of black pepper introduces a lingering finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Cabernet Franc in purezza, which impressively demonstrates how well the terroir is suited to this grape variety: Intriguing cherry-bitter chocolate bouquet, tinged with spicy notes; the attack is powerful, the fine-grained tannins and acidity in balance, elegant finish with plenty of fruit and noble character." Vinum
"Beautiful fruit and freshness with a brightness and energy that lifts the wine. It is medium to full-bodied with a bright and juicy palate. Blackcurrant and yellow pepper with some orange blossom. It is bright and fluid in an intriguing way. It's drinkable, but it will only get better with time." James Suckling

Three kilometres from the Tyrrhenian Sea and about 45 kilometres south of Livorno lies the Tenuta Poggio al Tesoro. It borders directly on the Ornellaia winery. The 70 hectare farm in Bolgheri is run by the Allegrini family from the Verona area together with the Italian American and famous wine merchant Leonardo Lo Cascio. The estate manager and her partner have long been known for high-quality red wines in the Valpolicella region. Founded shortly after the turn of the millennium, the company in Bolgheri has consistently continued its upward trend in recent years and today represents the West Tuscan cultivation area very convincingly.
The winery owns three plots of land, of which two in the Bolgheri territory make up the lion's share of the total area. Another area, about six hectares in size, is located in the neighbouring municipality of Bibbona. Because of the scattered cultivation zones - ranging from the sea to the more hilly inland areas - the soils differ. Coarse-grained reddish sand dominates in the locations particularly favoured by nature. The subsoil has high skeletal and clay content, is permeable and thus favours the drainage of water. In other zones the soils are heavy and very sandy. On the sandy and stony plots, Cabernet is the main cultivar, while the clayey and mineral-rich soils are mainly reserved for Merlot. The main vineyards are Via Bolgherese, Le Grottine, Le Sondraie and Valle di Cerbaia. Sites such as Le Sondraie are not only home to foreign red varieties, but also form an excellent base for excellent white grapes such as Vermentino.
After considerable investments, the Tenuta Poggio al Tesoro is now in optimal conditions to produce wonderful crescents. The red wines of the house combine power and complexity and are precisely met. They are by no means lacking elegant features. Among the best wines are the IGT wine Dedicato a Walter made exclusively from Cabernet Franc and the Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The noble wines of Poggio al Tesoro are regularly highly praised by the critics' guild.
The fact that the winery is so important in the denomination is also due to the far-sightedness of Walter Allegrini from Valpolicella. The winegrower, who had died in the meantime, had always been involved in the family business and had made decisive improvements based on his own experiments. It is also responsible for the diversification of the terroir and the grape varieties. SUPERIORE.DE
"The wines remain faithful to the ideas of their creators and demonstrate a precise style and enviable consistency. A safe tip at a high level in this overcrowded wine country."Gambero Rosso
