“Carnasciale” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021
The Carnasciale Rosso also impressively reflects the lineage of this small winery. Elegance and minerality take centre stage, with aromas reminiscent of black cherries, plums, juniper berries and menthol. Fresh, lively and beautifully structured with impressively diverse nuances on the palate. SUPERIORE.DE,
"Cosy aromas of blueberries and herbs; has fullness and polish on the palate, finishes long and very harmonious. Convinces with its polish." Vinum
"Bright ruby red colour. Elegant spice on the nose, redcurrants, red peppers, some graphite and blood, precious wood, cold smoke, elderberries. Juicy, clear on the palate, with an exciting entry and progression, savoury, young tannins, repeatedly juicy on the finish, good foresight." Falstaff
"Impenetrable, deep ruby red colour. Deep and gentle red fruit flavours with a hint of oak on the nose. Elegant and a little lively on the palate. Light yet concentrated, cool red fruit with polished, fine, long tannins." Jancis Robinson
"The wine has dark underlying tones of blackberries and plums and shows good support and structure on the back end. With time, you get pronounced herbal or green notes, and the medium-bodied mouthfeel is infused with powdery tannins." Wine Advocate
"The 2021 Carnasciale is infused with dark berries, mocha, new leather, liquorice and rose petals. This is a particularly aromatic, restrained vintage for the Carnasciale, where the flavours are quite prominent, while the fruit is more in the background and hidden by the structure of the wine. This wine really demands aeration or, even better, a few years in the bottle. It is a very serious, deep second wine from the estate." Vinous
"Dried herbs and peppercorns reminiscent of Chinese herbs and black beans. Also dark cherries and mushrooms. I love the freshness of this wine with a steady, crisp palate of medium weight releasing fresh acidity and very refined tannins. Fresh and savoury finish at the end. Excellent length." James Suckling
"With aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, violets, liquorice and iron, this pure red wine is racy and well-structured. Harmonious and persistent, with a long aftertaste that has a salty flavour alongside the fruit, it is simply radiant." Wine Spectator

“Il Caberlot” Rosso IGT 2020 · MAGNUM
Only 3,200 magnum bottles (and a few double magnums) of this exceptional wine from the Caberlot grape variety are produced at Bettina Rogosky's winery. Brilliant ruby-violet colour, spicy notes and rich dark berry fruit aromas on the nose. Juicy and clear on the palate, unfolds with dense, fine-grained tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red colour. Mint chocolate, ripe blackberries, dried rose petals, cold smoke and cold stone on the nose, with some leather and pepper on the finish. Textured on the palate, with a delicately creamy body, powerful, compact, comes in many layers, still a little young tannin on the final, salty and very long finish." Falstaff
"Very characterful and spicy nose full of peppery fruit. Lots of black pepper, some pencil lead and a fleshy undertone in the blue fruit. Polished and wild on the palate with medium body, fresh, high acidity and lots of crushed blueberries on the linear, long finish. Caberlot, a cross between Cabernet Franc and Merlot." James Suckling
"The 2020 Caberlot is a delicate, understated wine in relative terms. Structurally, the 2020 feels a bit soft, most likely because of rain during harvest. Inviting aromatics and mid-weight structure are the calling cards. Bright, red-toned fruit, rose petals, mint, dried herbs, incense and blood orange are nicely delineated. In 2020, Caberlot is quite understated. I find it one of the quietest, hushed Caberlots I can remember tasting. This will drink well with minimal cellaring." Vinous
"Full, rich and elegant, with aromas and flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry, violet, iron, cedar and tobacco. It is characterised by purity, finesse, excellent balance and a long, lingering aftertaste." Wine Spectator

The story of how Podere Il Carnasciale came to be sounds almost like a fairy tale. This is because the farm located between the Apennines and the Chianti Classico region in Mercatale Valdarno, a village in the province of Arezzo, has brought a largely unknown grape variety back to life. Around 50 years ago, agronomist Remigio Bordini discovered a vine in an old vineyard in the Colli Euganei near Padua that turned out to be a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Merlot. He therefore named it Caberlot. After meeting with Bordini and the oenologist Vittorio Fiore in the 1980s, the German advertising expert Wolf Rogosky decided to produce a delicious wine from this rarity. Since the 1988 vintage, the Caberlot has reigned supreme in the estate, which the Rogosky family acquired in 1972 with the intention of creating something special.
A gem in family hands.
Il Carnasciale is a family business, with three generations now responsible for the fortunes of the winery. Bettina Rogosky, son Moritz and daughter Carla-Elle run the Podere Il Carnasciale as a successful triumvirate. The trio is completed by oenologist Marco Maffei and Francesco and Remigio Bordini, who assist the winery as consultant agronomists.
Elegant, powerful and unique - Il Caberlot.
Even after Wolf Rogosky's death (✝1996), Caberlot has lost none of its original aura. The range, which initially consisted of one wine, has now grown to three wines. The undisputed star of the company is the cult wine Il Caberlot, which is mainly bottled unfiltered in magnum and double magnum formats. Bettina Rogosky names three important success factors for the Caberlot: The diverse characteristics of the vine, the terroir and the work carried out exclusively by hand and characterised by few technical interventions in the three plots owned by the company. The following two wines round off the fine range: Carnasciale is bottled in 0.75 litre bottles, which leave the winery after 6 months. Ottantadue is the third wine, a single-varietal Sangiovese, which matures for 14 months in stainless steel and is also bottled in 0.75 litre bottles.
Craftsmanship with the highest precision & perfection.
A lot of work is done by hand at the winery with care and passion, and this commitment is the basis for the impressive success. The wines of Il Carnasciale have been a firm favourite not only with connoisseurs and aficionados, but also in the hearts of international wine critics for decades. The vineyards of Podere Il Carnasciale were planted exclusively with Caberlot in 1986, 1999 and 2004 at a very high density of 10,000 vines per hectare. The family business cultivates organically certified vines. In the vineyard, the yield per hectare is limited to 30 hectolitres. Harvesting begins when the fruit has reached phenolic ripeness.
After the grapes have been destemmed, the must is fermented in small stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. During the vinification process, malolactic fermentation is initiated biologically. The wines are aged in mostly new French oak barrels - one third each from the Allier, TronÇais and Vosges regions - for 22 months.
We are delighted to be able to offer you these rare wines, which are limited from year to year due to high demand. SUPERIORE.DE
"Over the years, Il Carnasciale has gained cult status among readers who yearn for the finest wines Tuscany has to offer - that's right! This is where some of Italy's most unique wines are produced."Antonio Galloni
