“Non Confunditur” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021
Rosso Non Confunditur from Argiano is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. The wine opens with a dark ruby red colour and aromas of wild berries, flowers and red berries. On the palate, it fortunately does not show the cloying heaviness or dense extraction found in many other protagonists of the Super Tuscan category. In fact, NC is accessible and fresh, rounded off with a good level of crisp acidity and a well-proportioned body. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with violet shimmer. Compact nose, ripe plum, coffee and dark chocolate. Powerful and juicy on the palate, builds up a lot of pressure, refreshing acidity and ripe tannins, medium-long final, slightly brittle at the end." Falstaff
"Taut and straightforward in profile, this red offers blackcurrants, black cherries, vanilla and peppery spices. It tightens up on the finish, where the chalky tannins linger." Wine Spectator
"The nose is simultaneously earthy and sweet, with notes of cherries, chocolate, tree bark and underbrush. That cherry-chocolate sweetness takes center stage on the palate, before tannins clear through them to resuscitate the earth tones." Wine Enthusiast

Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2022 (BIO)
Argiano's Rosso di Montalcino is a very beautiful and expressive wine. Dried herbs, flowers, mint, liquorice and sweet red cherries adorn this attractive, medium-bodied Rosso. Medium textured on the palate, with lovely balance and clean notes of raspberry and candied violets. It is accessible early on and offers plenty of fun with its juicy overall impression through to a surprisingly long finish and is also an excellent accompaniment to food. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ruby red with a cherry-red centre. Fragrant nose of cherries, nutmeg and marjoram, with a leathery final. Firm body on the palate, very grippy tannins, wrapped in a juicy fruit melt, delicately bitter on the final." Falstaff
"Aromatically intense, the 2022 Rosso di Montalcino holds nothing back. It's vividly fruit forward yet with a burst of wild herbs and exotic spice to balance. This is harmonious and pure on the palate, with ample energy and verve as a cascade of crisp wild berry fruits swirl throughout. Only gently tannic yet full of youthful tension, the 2022 finishes fresh yet potent." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
Argiano recently caused an international sensation with its Brunello 2018, when the renowned Wine Spectator ranked it as the 8th best wine in the world in 2023. It is fermented in cement tanks and matured slowly in oak wood; its fruit comes from a 22-hectare vineyard with limestone marl soils. Now comes the follow-up vintage, and it is not only very promising because it already perfectly reflects the extraordinary Montalcino year 2019 in its own unique way.
Dark yet floral in the glass, with a hint of crushed stone and violet pastilles embellishing the black cherries. Energetic yet silky-smooth on the palate, with cooling minerality and juicy acidity that layers masses of tart wild berries over a core of savoury minerals. The primary fruit is young and agile and the grippy tannins, which envelop the entire palate, guide it into a long, savoury final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, concentrated aroma, dark red fruit, touch of orange peel, earthy, pithy and powerful. Lots of substance in the mouth, juicy structure with pressure and freshness, very complex and wide-ranging, ripe with penetrating freshness and flavour, lingers forever with good structure. Already fun now, but will certainly benefit from further bottle ageing." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red with cherry-red reflections. Dried berries on the nose, slight hints of coffee grounds and black tea, with a hint of liquorice on the finish. Energetic on the palate, precise acidity and good juiciness, plus creamy fruit, flows along fruit-emphasised, still a little young on the final, good foresight." Falstaff
"Brilliant, deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Powerful, concentrated fruit nose with spicy hints. Lots of tangy fruit and ripe, grainy tannins that form a very good balance. Long, chewy, deep fruit. This wine will develop well over the next few years." Jancis Robinson
"The 2019 is strongly reminiscent of the village and exudes savoury, sweet herbs, rose and bergamot. Generously weighted with juicy strawberries and cherries, it fills the mouth without feeling heavy. Spicy mandarin provides freshness. Long, chalky tannins caress the palate with increasing firmness as it flows confidently across the palate. Rosemary and sage linger on the finish." Decanter
"Crushed ash stones, cloves, dried black cherries, rosemary and balsamic herbs form a spice box as the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino blossoms in the glass. The Brunello di Montalcino is surprisingly fresh and energising, almost juicy, yet refined and focused, with a silky texture that brings out crisp wild berry and orange tones that slowly saturate the palate. The finish is spicy and long, its energy never flagging, with grippy tannins that tug at the cheeks as the liquorice and cranberry notes fade." Vinous
"The Argiano 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is stronger than the previous 2018 and 2017 vintages, thanks to the precision and focus of its fruit flavours in this balanced vintage. It shows ample depth and volume, with sweet cherry and blackberry flavours leading into gently toasted spice and earth. Floral hints of lilac and iris make a brief but incisive appearance. Velvety tannins and a beautifully concentrated, medium-bodied palate ensure good persistence." Wine Advocate
"Delicious flavours of juicy red cherries, strawberries, rose petals and wild bush, along with hints of juniper and ground herbs. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and crisp acidity. Spicy and savoury with a nice balance and finish. Lots of fruit on the finish. Give it more time to develop." James Suckling
"This wine is packed with ripe cherry, plum and raspberry fruit, with floral, mineral, juniper and wild herb accents adding depth and complexity. There's also plenty of energy and structure, providing excellent balance, with a long finish." Wine Spectator
"Red cherry, then notes of wild mint, with a finish on hints of blood-orange peel. Dense-citrusy drinkability, iodized tannins." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Vigna del Suolo” DOCG 2018
The grapes for the "Suolo" Brunello selection come from the vineyard of the same name and from the estate's oldest vines. They lie at an altitude of 320 metres on soils of clay-limestone marl rich in skeletons and fossils. It is the ideal terroir to fully express the character of the old Sangiovese Grosso clones and gives the wine an acidic, spicy profile. Only part of the vineyard parcels are used for this label. Long ageing in 15-hectolitre Allier oak barrels and a resting period in the bottle complete it and prepare it for the market and the challenge of time. Around 5,000 bottles are bottled only in the best vintages.
The wine announces itself with a deep ruby red colour and opens with a seductive bouquet in which ripe cherries and small fruits give way to more complex notes of tobacco, flowers and undergrowth, before fading into spice and citrus peel. The palate is broad, deep and crisp, supported by a rich acidic framework that carries intact fruit and tannins of spectacular finesse. Rich but not too dense, it is assertive, profound and elegant, with an exceptional vitality that promises glorious ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, shiny ruby red colour with a delicately brightening rim. Expressive and clear on the nose of fresh wild strawberries, mint, precious wood, dried tomato, underpinned by light spice and maquis. On the palate with a polished entry and progression, builds up fleshy and juicy, with elegant pressure, profound and elegant, in the final on noble earthy notes, will mature excellently." Falstaff
"The Argiano 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo (5,000 bottles) shows good fruit richness with cherry, dried raspberry and plum. The tannins are silky and fine, and the wine envelops the palate with a medium-weight texture and balanced freshness." Wine Advocate
"Argiano is back on track with this 2018 Brunello at an excellent price. Packed with flavour, it shows the vintage well: while the colour is scarce - pale garnet - the aromas are vibrant and enticing with spiced cherry and Mediterranean flowers bursting from the glass. It is medium-bodied and fluid, revealing the warm southern exposure of the vineyards. The tannins are fine and layered, with a chalky texture. Although the winery has released its Vigna del Suolo selection, there will be no Riserva bottling for 2018." Decanter
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo is seductive and understated in the glass, showing musky blackcurrant flavours accompanied by hints of sage and clove. It is graceful and refined, yet enveloping, with bright acidity enlivening the red plums and ripe strawberries, while a hint of balsamic spice resonates. The 2018 finishes with grippy tension as the fine tannins penetrate deeply, leaving notes of dried cherry and lavender that slowly fade away. The Vigna del Suolo will need patience to fully unfold and develop its flavours. But it will be worth the wait. This is a beauty." Decanter
"A very fine and polished Brunello with fine, creamy tannins that are polished and very curated. Character of cherry and bark. Medium to full body with ripe tannins. Juicy. Orange peel flavours. Try it after 2025, but it's delicious now." James Suckling
"This supple, clean-lined red grabs your attention with a beam of cherry and blackcurrant flavours, while lacy tannins line the finish. It shows flavours of earth, menthol, white pepper and juicy red berries that are expressive and delicious. Super long finish." Wine Spectator
"An essential part of Ilcine history, a wine that is the result of Bernardino Sani's great zoning work. Multi-faceted on the nose, with notes of wild plum, pepper leaf and star anise. Exciting and flavoursome on the palate, with a fruity finish." Luca Gardini
"A sweet, floral nose welcomes you with a warm embrace of vanilla and cherry before an earthy savoriness surprises you with notes of soil, leather, sun-dried tomato and oregano. The tomatoes sweeten on the palate joined by cherries and chili heat before a saline finish. A wine that defines itself with fruit so alive you could take its pulse, and contoured, seductive tannins." Wine Enthusiast

The name "Vineyard of the Soil" says it all: opens with warm, earthy notes, the fruit emerges in a second wave with dried raspberries, cassis and dried cherries. The theme of earthiness runs through the entire experience and is also evoked by the powdery dryness of the tannins. There are many flavours lurking in this textured, full-bodied Brunello, including orange, mint and a hint of salty sea air. A very special and highly elegant wine that certainly needs some time in the bottle to gain depth and volume. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby-garnet colour with a brightening rim. Charming and inviting nose of fresh wild raspberries and ripe cherries, along with pomegranate and tobacco. Lots of juicy fruit on the palate, again cherry and raspberry, then opens up with lots of fine-meshed, present tannins, very good tension and a long finish." Falstaff
"This wine will really come into its own with the 2019 vintage. Intoxicatingly fragrant, it offers notes of mint, fennel and tarragon infusing dark cherry and plum. Not big, but lush and expansive, a sense of baked stone underpins the deliciously tart sour cherry centre. Silky, suede-like tannins are graceful in their draw, while the acidity cleanses the mouth and is crisp. An explosion of apricot pits and juicy minerals prolong the finish." Decanter
"The dark Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo 2019 exudes a hint of cocoa, violet pastille and sweet sage, which complements redcurrants. Like pure velvet, the Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo slowly spreads across the palate, weighty and youthfully dense, with an abundance of mineral, dark red fruits that swirl over a steadily building wall of fine tannins. The 2019 finishes with enormous length and structure and shows fantastic balance. A hint of residual acidity refreshes the senses and balsamic herbs slowly fade away. This is a Vigna del Suolo that is made to last." Vinous
"The Argiano 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo has an elegant, ever-changing bouquet of black fruits and a pronounced mineral signature of dusty slate and gravel. This site with 63-year-old vines is located on the picturesque cypress-lined gravel road that leads to this imposing castello (one of the greatest architectural works of Italian wine). The bouquet unfolds with tobacco leaves, lime leaves, balsamic herbs, exotic spices and a particularly fresh berry fruit that is on the verge of over-ripeness. The fruit tastes sweet, but in a delicate way, and the tannins are elegant with a dryness that is not exaggerated. This is a very nice wine." Wine Advocate
"Plenty of dark fruit flavours of black cherries, blackberries and dried herbs, followed by dried meat and sweetish tobacco notes. Medium-bodied with crisp, fine-grained tannins and strong acidity. Very precise and dense, yet beautifully balanced and savoury. Great ageing potential." James Suckling
"Aromas and flavours of iron, minerals and wild herbs frame the cherry and raspberry fruit in this lean, racy red wine, which is harmonious and full of energy, with a long aftertaste defined by the firm structure and strong acidity, as well as flint and stone elements. This is something special." Wine Spectator
"On the nose precision and extreme cleanliness, hints of wild strawberry and yellow raspberry. With the oxygenation, the tension and the balsamicmentholated part emerge, with a finish wild and of graphite. In the mouth elegance and tension, extremely fine tannins with hints of blood orange and pomegranate. Closure of eucalyptus, extraordinary drinkability." Luca Gardini

The origins of the Argiano wine estate date back to the late 16th century, when the noble Pecci family from Siena had the magnificent Villa di Argiano with its adjoining wine cellar built on a hill with a picturesque view of the River Orca in the south-west of Montalcino.
Over the centuries, the estate has passed from one noble family to the next. Countess Noemi Marone Cinzano took over the historic estate in 1992. She had a clear goal in mind: to produce an extremely high-quality Brunello di Montalcino here. To allow this vision to mature, the businesswoman decided to hire the famous Tuscan wine expert Giacomo Tachis as Oenologist. Over time, the proud Brunello from Argiano was joined by the Super Tuscan Solengo - still a top product in its class today - and the single-varietal Sangiovese Suolo, which has also won many awards. In 2004, Hans Vinding-Diers took over from Tachis. Since this change of management, organic farming has been practised on the estate and modern wine processing techniques have been utilised. This laid another foundation stone for a bright future. In 2013, the ownership changed hands and Bernardino Sani, who has also been responsible for the production of the traditional winery's wines since 2015, took over the management of the company.
Since 2019, Argiano has been the first plastic-free company in Montalcino. All single-use plastic products have been eliminated. The inspiration for the winery's sustainable approach is the circular model, which begins with separate waste collection and also includes the reuse of agricultural waste such as green waste. In recent years, the winery, which was a founding member of the Brunello Consortium in 1967 along with other historic wineries in the region, has experienced good times. While the ancient cellars are still used today to store fine wines in the ageing phase, the winemaking facilities are now located in a cellar equipped with state-of-the-art technology that blends in perfectly with the landscape.
The hospitable Argiano winery, which also runs an agritourism business (Posta l'Orciaia), currently covers a total area of around 125 hectares with 51 hectares of vines spread over several denominations, as well as olive trees and woodland. The vineyards are almost all south-facing and have excellent ventilation. The vineyards are characterised by the chalky soils with clay deposits typical of the region. The density of vines is comparatively high at 7,000 plants per hectare. The estate cultivates the red grape varieties Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello), Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. SUPERIORE.DE
"We believe that the vine must not be moulded at will, but must be studied, understood, interpreted and respected; we believe that it must realise itself in order to tell of a place, a climate and a vintage. For us, this is an expression of good agriculture." Bernardino Sani and Francesco Monari
"This wonderful traditional estate has experienced a great renaissance in terms of style and quality in recent years." Gambero Rosso
