The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2019 is a fully impressive creation with a unique and interesting interpretation of this classic vintage. The wine is bold and bright, with great intensity that accompanies it from start to finish. Dark cherry and blackberry flavours stand in balanced contrast to layers of spice, cumin and cardamom. Despite its intensity and richness, this Riserva is very balanced and never oversteps its bounds. The same applies to the mouthfeel. "Among the wineries that do not produce a Riserva in every vintage, Gianni Brunelli's last release was in 2016. While it embodies the depth and classicism of that vintage, this 2019 plays with the expressiveness and elegance of the vintage. The aromas of lavender and cherry blossom against a backdrop of dry, sun-drenched earth are wonderfully clear. The palate is equally perfumed, with accents of fennel and tarragon, and the juicy acidity underlines the sheer wealth of flavour.
