Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2019 (BIO)
Medium ruby red. Opens with ripe fruit notes of redcurrants, wild cherries and dried raspberries, then grilled herbs and liquorice in the background. This Rosso is more powerful and opulent than many of its competitors, almost reaching the intensity of a Brunello. Nevertheless, the aromas are more precise than one would expect from a young red wine. The delicate tannin has reached a certain stage of maturity and finds a lively ally in the well-proportioned acidity, which keeps the flavour development going for all eternity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Graphite, leather and crushed mint aromas come to the forefront along with a hint of rose. The savory, full-bodied palate has focus and elegance, featuring ripe strawberry, blood orange and licorice alongside taut, fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"A fresh red with aromas of raspberries, redcurrants, baking spices and orange peel. Medium-bodied with sleek tannins. Creamy texture with bright acidity and a fruity, zesty and flavorful finish with excellent length." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017
Every year, Renieri conjures up a lush and fruit-driven Brunello in the glass, bursting with freshness, brightness and balsamic-aromatic intensity. Its grapes come from a small, nine-hectare parcel with chalky clay soils. It offers powerful cherry and blackberry aromas with delicate spice, smoke and blue flowers. The wonderfully balanced acidity pushes this showpiece wine into a seemingly endless final. Completely successful! SUPERIORE.DE
"The Renieri 2017 Brunello di Montalcino embraces freshness, vibrant fruit and punchy sour cherry aromas. In fact, I am surprised by the ethereal and light quality of this wine, given the hot vintage. This expression is redolent of earth, forest floor and garden roses. Some well-managed flavors of spice and toasted nut slip in gently at the end." Wine Advocate
"A fresh and balanced Brunello for the hot and dry 2017 vintage. It’s medium- to full-bodied with tight and polished tannins that are well-integrated and focused on the palate. Plenty of dark berry, black cherry and dry earth with some porcini mushroom. Fantastic for the vintage. Try after 2023." James Suckling

"This has complex aromas of mulberries, strawberries, red tea, dried flowers, cocoa powder, wild thyme and hazelnuts. So bright and lively with a medium to full body and firm, fine-grained tannins. Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016
Marco Bacci's Brunello Riserva from the dream vintage 2016 presents itself full and generous on the nose. Cascades of violet and black fruits wash over the senses with black cherry, blackberry jam and smoked tobacco. The opulent overall impression is completed with a hint of bitter almond and subtle notes of smoke and nuts. These give the wine a deep and dark character. Very well structured on the palate and built for a long life with its well-formed acid-tannin framework. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of camphor, new leather, blue flowers and dark spices come to the fore. Full-bodied and elegantly structured, the savoury palate offers ripe Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry, liquorice and tobacco, framed by tightly wound, fine-grained tannins. The fresh acidity provides balance. It's still youthfully tart and needs a few more years to unwind." Wine Enthusiast
"The Renieri 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is balanced and bright, but it also shows the unmistakable power and strength of this classic vintage. Cassis and cherry are framed by fragrant balsamic aromas with tarry smoke, cola and liquorice. There's a bright note here too, reminiscent of natural rubber, followed by lovely mineral tones that add elegance." Wine Advocate
"An intense red wine that offers a wealth of concentrated aromas of black cherries, blackcurrants, violets, chocolate and earth. It firms up at the end, with the dense tannins leaving a compact impression for now. Spicy elements shimmer through on the finish." Wine Spectator
"Southern part of the appellation, from a farm with great history, a refined Brunello, nose of redcurrants, with hints of Mediterranean scrub and balsamic, of eucalyptus. The mouthfeel is dense with salty tannins and a return to fruity notes." Luca Gardini
"Enticing aromas of black truffle with cherry and strawberry. The palate is full and dense with super polished tannins that are layered and refined. Great length. Goes on and on. Not to be tasted until after 2025, but already captivating." James Suckling

Unlike other wine producers, Marco Bacci was not born into a winemaking family. Instead, he started his career in his parents' clothing business and later founded his own real estate company. In the early 1980s, he acquired a picturesque vineyard in Tuscany's Chianti Classico region as a real estate investment, but it was here that the native Florentine would eventually discover his passion and talent for winemaking.
After the first few years of harvesting, the budding winemaker also decided to move to the most coveted of Tuscan wine-growing regions, and in 1998 fell in love with the small Renieri winery in the southern part of the famous hill town of Montalcino. With a view of the majestic Monte Amiata, his Sangiovese vines grow here at an average altitude of 400 metres on volcanic red soil that is also mixed with limestone, clay and tufa.
This ferruginous subsoil gives the wines an amazing mineral undertone, which allows Marco to always maintain a distinctive and fresh taste despite the long maturation period. To maintain the vineyards, they work as close to nature as possible according to organic guidelines: "In this respect, there are no alternatives. We are responsible for what we do and what we leave to our children. Quality must win. The plants live longer and bear better fruit," Marco tells us in conversation.
The passionate winemaker has been supported for many years by oenologist Stefano Marinari, with whom he presses an expressive Brunello di Montalcino and the accompanying Riserva, which matures for at least 48 months in the ultra-modern, underground wine cellar. We were also convinced by his full-bodied Rosso di Montalcino, which - just like the other two wines - demonstrates a wonderfully fruit-intensive character and impressive length.
Together with his son Jacopo, Marco represents this Tuscan excellence throughout the world and promises that more brilliant vintages will be produced from his up-and-coming winery in the future. So those who prefer the traditional style of wine from Montalcino will love Renieri's examples just as much as the renowned wine critic James Suckling, who has already rewarded some of these top wines with the incredible top score of 100 points.
