Produced using the appassimento or Amarone method, this Valpolicella has a rich ruby-violet colour. The nose has compact notes of ripe cherries, blackberries, some cloves, elderberries and liquorice, with subtle notes of chocolate in the background. Silky texture with an abundance of sweet fruit, balanced by salty minerals and savoury spices. A hint of sour tangerine and citrus adds further depth. This vineyard in the hilly Soave Classico zone was acquired by the Rizzardi family in 1977 and has always been an integral part of the estate. The soil is rich in volcanic gravel and the rows of vines have a favourable southern exposure and are exposed to the late afternoon sun. In addition, the location and altitude guarantee the positive effect of fresh ventilation. Over the years, the vines have reached their full potential through replanting and the use of new training systems. The volcanic soils of Monte di Colognola give Monte Ceriani a mineral framework, a symmetrical matrix of flint and phenol in which the fruit flesh is deeply embedded.
