The beautiful Col Vetoraz winery, named after a very high-quality individual location, is situated in the best hilly country of Valdobbiadene. It sits near the village of Santo Stefano, next to Monte Cartizze, on a 400-metre-high hill from which the vineyards drop steeply down into the valley. Although the Miotto family had already planted the first vines in 1838, the history of the winery, known for its excellent Prosecco, dates back only to 1993.
At that time Francesco, a direct descendant of the family, Paolo De Bortoli and Loris Dall created'Acqua the winery of today. The company was founded at a time when numerous quality companies were being set up, after only a few names had previously dominated a large part of the region of origin. Today the one by Loris Dall'Acqua, the company's technical manager, has imitated the wine style for which many other producers of the DOCG zone, which was promoted to Superiore a few years ago, are responsible.
The wine house Col Vetoraz proves that it has very successfully undergone the image, technology and marketing changes of the past four decades. With its sparkling wines, it relies entirely on quality and can rely on a dense network of suppliers. In total, these contract farms, which deliver their grapes directly to the cellar, have a higher yield than their prominent buyer, who is located in the upper middle of the growing zone with its 12 hectares of vineyards. That's why Col Vetoraz's three-member management team, who are very committed to their work, can also afford to use only the best fruits for their bottling. Most recently, around 800,000 bottles were produced each year.
The core of the wide assortment is formed by the spumante based on the Glera grape. The sparkling wines of Col Vetoraz are among the best and most interesting representatives of their colour in the entire region of origin, where around 140 sparkling wine cellars are located. SUPERIORE.DE
