“Palazzotto” Cabernet Sauvignon Breganze DOC 2018
Palazzotto is the name of the two hectares of vineyard where only Cabernet Sauvignon is grown. Fausto Maculan vinifies a fine wine from these grapes. A pronounced, very multi-faceted bouquet of dark ripe fruit, cassis and nuances of fine spices and violets. The fruity flavour is full-bodied and soft, with a long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Maculan 2018 Breganze Cabernet Sauvignon Palazzotto makes a bold statement thanks to inky dark fruit, thick ripeness and dense extraction with black fruit flavors framed by lots of sweet oak. This full-framed red has an almost exotic quality with teriyaki or barbecue spice." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Palazzotto is spicy in the glass: cedar and ground ginger give way to dusty roses and redcurrants. It is elegant yet refined, with creamy textures lifted by vibrant acidity, while a wave of mineral-tinged wild berry flavours lightly wash over the palate. The 2018 leaves a tart note of citrus and raspberry and subtle, grippy tannins that frame the wine without slowing its momentum. Although it is already showing very well now, this wonderfully balanced version of Palazzotto should improve even more with medium-term cellaring." Vinous
"Ripe dark fruit with notes of walnuts, cedar wood and spices. Some leafy flavour. Medium to full-bodied with lots of firm, creamy tannins and a deep core of ripe and crunchy dark fruit. Velvety and long-lasting, with a firm, spicy finish." James Suckling

“Torcolato” Bianco Breganze DOC 2021 dolce
Torcolato is made from botrytised Vespaiola grapes and matures in French oak barrels, a third of which are new. It has been one of the best sweet wines in Italy for decades. Aromas of dried apricots, white truffle, honey and sage on the nose, virtuoso and exotic on the palate. Class and elegance with a great value and outstanding ageing potential. A monument in the Italian wine world every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Silky and sweet, but also delicious and clear, with notes of lemon wax and toasted almonds accenting flavours of baked persimmons, singed orange peel, dried mint and toffee. A tight-knit dessert wine, with well-integrated acidity and light, taut tannins." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Torcolato has a deep golden colour and impresses with a bouquet that combines richness with sophistication. Dried apricots and mangoes meet notes of almond paste, cinnamon and fresh mint, which complement each other. This wine is surprisingly lively and energetic, with a racy acidity and tart fruit balanced by a core of sour citrus and spice. The 2021 leaves you wanting more and finishes dramatically long but incredibly fresh, with notes of green melon and lime slowly fading away. This is dangerously delicious." Vinous

“Acininobili” Passito Bianco Veneto IGT 2018 dolce
Acininobili Bianco Passito is a stunning interpretation of the indigenous Vespaiola grape, offering impressive depth, complexity and personality. It is a superb dessert wine made from grapes that were air-dried for up to 120 days after harvest and developed Botrytis cinerea during the careful appassimento process. Basically, the same Vespaiola grapes are used here that are used for Torcolato. At the end of the drying process, the grapes that have developed noble rot are hand-selected and passed into this precious wine. If the noble rot does not appear, this wine is not made.
The rare result is truly exceptional with a deep aroma of candied orange peel, maple syrup and golden honey. Monumental and viscous in the drink, this alien elixir coats the palate with smooth and even waves of magnificent intensity. This is grape juice in purezza! SUPERIORE.DE
"Not too sweet, the 2018 Acininobili Bianco Passito is in fact special in its delivery of sweetness versus complexity, with dried fruit, apricot, honey, beeswax and tropical fruit. This viscous, full-bodied expression of Vespaiola shows some light spice and toasted almond." Wine Advocate
"Quite a discreet and restrained nose for this subtle passito. Fine honeysuckle, apricot, pickled kumquat with subtle sultanas and turmeric. Also some wet stones and butterscotch. The palate is supple and silky with a lovely gliding acidity. Great balance with quite a long, lively finish. Quite effortless." James Suckling

“Fratta” Rosso Veneto IGT 2017
This beautiful cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from a great vintage presents itself impeccably! Deep, complex fruit bouquet, rounded off by fine sweet spices, tobacco and coffee. Punchy and textured on the palate, blackberry, raspberry and a solidly woven tannin structure in the several-minute final. A wine with great development potential! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2017 Fratta lifts up with a dark and alluring display of black currants, sweet herbs, rich notes of mocha and savory brown spice. This is cool-toned and spicy, a bit lean, yet with a polished feel, showing tart blackberries offset by hints of sour citrus and toasty oak, as violet-tinged florals form toward the close. Fine tannins make themselves known throughout the finale, as this tapers off lightly structured, with hints of licorice lingering long." Vinous
"Deep, dense aromas of crushed black fruit with notes of charcoal and dried herbs, such as rosemary and thyme. The fruit envelops the lightly firm tannins on the full-bodied palate, creating a dense, velvety and lengthy mouthful. A well-crafted red that’s highly concentrated and bursting with flavor, but it also shows astute balance." James Suckling
"Here's an iconic wine from the Veneto made from a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Merlot. The Maculan 2017 Fratta shows enormous intensity, muscle and brawn. The wine has absorbed every last drop of sunshine, heat and dry weather conditions that characterized the 2017 growing season, and it does so with elegance and poise. The wine is impeccably balanced with dark fruit and spice. It's the kind of big-boned red wine you'll want to pair with a hearty dish of barbecue or marinated beef." Wine Advocate

“Fratta” Rosso Veneto IGT 2018
Every year, Fratta is a groundbreaking blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that you can't help but love. Fratta proved the Veneto's potential for winemaking when it was first produced in 1977, the year Angela Maculan (a second daughter) was born. Fratta is a bold and big wine and there is no doubting the profound elegance of this highly personalised expression. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, almost impenetrable violet colour with ruby. Very fragrant nose of juicy cherries, cassis, some red pepper, violets and earth. Lots of sweet fruit on the palate, embedded in grippy, hard tannins, spicy, almost savoury, on bitter chocolate, still a little overhanging wood on the finish, still quite harsh on the final." Falstaff
"A deep and dense nose of redcurrants and black cherries and a hint of slightly charred oak. Medium bodied with a cool and crystalline feel on the palate. The tannins are still firm, but the super-pure fruit pushes through beautifully. Best from 2025." James Suckling
"Dark and balsamic in the glass, the 2018 Fratta displays aromas of crushed blackberry and wild blueberry accompanied by lavender, clove and camphor. This wine is supremely elegant and refined, with a polished wave of ripe red and blue fruits supported by a core of vibrant acidity, while cooling mineral tones provide a breezy lift towards the finish. This heady experience is emphasised by sweet tannins and a slightly bitter spiciness, while the 2018 finishes long and classically structured. The inner harmony that Maculan has captured here is breathtaking." Vinous

The municipality of Breganze, with a population of 9,000, was for a long time one of the places not to be remembered when it came to viticulture. This changed, however, when Fausto Maculan started in the 1970s with excellent wines to ensure that the community emerged from its shadow. Today the winery, located in the historical centre of Breganze and managed by the third generation of the Maculan family, is one of the most internationally renowned wineries in Veneto. Inspired by a visit to the great wine-growing zones of the world, Fausto took over the aspects he found particularly interesting and exploited them on his own plaice, planted with many grape varieties. From the very beginning, the eloquent winemaker has been committed to high quality in his investments in the vineyard and cellar with great sensitivity. He is also responsible for Italy's international recognition as a wine country. Since 2007 Fausto has had his daughters Angela and Maria Vittoria at his side.
The Maculan winery says it has 40 hectares of vineyards, including olive groves. In addition, plots of land are still leased. The natural conditions for viticulture in the Breganze area are very favourable. The hilly cultivation zone north of Venice is protected by the Alps from the cold north winds and has a mild climate. The mostly volcanic soils are loose due to pebble deposits. The subsoil is well ventilated and drained. Perhaps Faustos most famous vineyard is the Ferrata - a southern location through which a supply line ran during the First World War. While Maculan's top creations are made from grapes grown in its own vineyards, the simpler drops sometimes come from a number of local suppliers.
Representatives of the international wine press praise Fausto Maculan again and again for his skilful interaction with the vines - be it Merlot, Cabernet, Marzemino, Chardonnay or the very rare Vespaiola. The latter type of grape serves as the raw material for the dessert wine Torcolato, probably the most famous product from the northern Italian winery. Strong personality Bordeaux wines, for which even winegrowers from the famous French region admire the winemaker from the Veneto, as well as temptingly soft Trockenbeerenauslesen are among the top wines of the winery founded shortly after the Second World War. The tirelessly rackernd quality pioneer Fausto Maculan is also repeatedly certified by experts to be able to market his own products very successfully. SUPERIORE.DE
